Engine Oil loss...

At 5k miles, my 06 MCSa oil level is down to 1/2 on the dip stick guage. My coolant tank is empty. My oil change warning is not until "2600" miles, I know for a fact that I need to top of the oil before that.

Has anybody else have the same issue? I've taken the IC off a couple of times and I've seen a good amount of oil pooling around the rubber boots. Now for the coolant, I'm not sure if its just me or is it normal for Mini to loose coolant that much?

A BMW tech told me you should change the oil @ 7500 miles. He has seen bad things happen to cars that wait until the 15k mark.

Definitely need to top off the oil level. Regarding the water level, you have a leak somewhere (most likely a pin hole leak on the radiator where the end caps are fitted to the core). Top off the water level and mention the leak to the SA when you bring the car in for the first service. The standard diagnostic is to pressurize the cooling system. If the pressure drops, the leak is confirmed and they are on a scavenger hunt to find the leak. Put distilled water in the coolant tank.

Spoken like a true expert.

My 05MCSa burned off a bit of oil in the first 10k as well. Although my first motor had some issues
