question about Inspection II

My '04 MCS is currently at 48,700 miles and an inspection will be due shortly. Since some moron smashed out my window a month ago and took everything inside the car including the owner's manual, I'm in the dark about what this service entails.

I haven't decided yet whether it will be done by a dealer or by me, but I'd like to know what I'm looking at if I go the dealer route.

Is there an online reference for the procedures required by each of the services?

Thanks!

For everyone but the '06 owners, the owner's manuals are available from MINI in the Owners Lounge.

Here's the maintenance schedule:
Oil service at 10,000
Inspection 1 at 25,000
Oil service at 40,000
Inspection 2 at 55,000
Oil service at 70,000
Inspection 1 at 85,000
......etc.
(approximate milage - varies on driving style, etc.)

for Inspection I
From the Bentley manual---->

undercar maintenance:
change oil and oil filter
Check transmission and differential for external leaks
change CVT fluid (auto transmission)
check CV joint boots for damage of leaks
visually check fuel tank, fuel lines and connections for leaks
check condition, position, and mounting of exhaust system,
visually check and adjust if necessary
check struts and shock absorbers for leaks
check front control arm bushings for damage or wear
check power steering system for leaks.
check power steering fluid level and adjust if necessary
check steering rack and tie rods for tightness
check condition of steering linkage and steering shaft joints
check overall thickness of front and rear brake pads using BMW
special tool. if replacement is necessary:
examine brade disc surface
clean brake pad contact points in calipers
grease wheel centering hubs
check thickness of parking brake linings only when replacing rear brake shoes (don't think this is right)
check operation of parking brake and adjust as necessary

check brake system connections and lines for leaks damage and incorrect positioning
check parking brake actuator. adjust if necessary
check all tire pressures (including spare if equipped) and correct if necessary
check condition of tires (outer tread surface) tread wear pattern.
in case of uneven wear perform alignment
inspect entire body according to terms of rust perforation limited warrantee. (must be performed at least every two years)

Engine compartment:
read out OBD II fault codes
check engine coolant system/heater hose connections for leaks
check coolant level and antifreeze protection level
add coolant as necessary
check air conditioner for operation
replace ventilation microfilter (reduce replacement interval in dusty conditions)
reset service interval display

Body/Electrical:
check battery state of charge
check operation of:
headlights, foglights, parking lights, back up lights, turn signals,
emergency flashers, stop lights license plate lights, interior lights,
glove compartment light, make up mirror lights, flashlight, engine
compartment light, trunk light.
check instrument panel, dashboard illumination
check warning and indicator lights, check control
check operation of horn, headlight dimmer and flasher switch
check wipers and windshield washer system
check aim of washer jets and adjust if necessary
check condition and function of seat belts
visually examine all airbag units for torn covers, obvious damage or
attachment of decals, decorations, or accessories
check central locking system
check operation and condition of door, engine hood, and rear hatch latches
check heater, air conditioner blower and rear window defogger operation
check operation of rear view mirrors

Road Test:
check braking performance, steering, heating and a/c operation
check manual transmission and clutch operation or auto trans operation

For Inspection II, add:
replace air filter element

Also:

replace ribbed drive belt (MCS - 60,000 / MC - 100,000)

replace brake fluid each 2 years

replace coolant every 4 years

replace oxygen sensor every 100,000

replace spark plugs every 100,000

(the Haynes manual says replace spark plugs, drive belt at inspection II
regardless of mileage)
