Another Xenon Question

I have the auto-on headlights as part of the convenience package. The front of my garage is quite dark therefore everytime we leave or pull into the garage the headlights come on. Even in the middle of the afternoon.

So the question. Is this going to cause premature wear on the lights? I have read that the Xenons "ignite" and I just want to make sure they are not going to quit in a year because the sensor is so sensitive. Another question is, is their a way to adjust the sensitivity of the sensor? I ask because I noticed last night that the lights came on when their was still plenty of day light left.

I love the auto-on feature. If I didn't like it so much I would just turn them on manually.

Thanks for the advice.

My garage is the same way. I dont think that there is a way to ajust the sensitivity of the sensor. If you are worried about it, just have the dealer check em out at your next service. The manual says that the chance of one of them failing is extremly low.

Well look at it this way ...

Those bulbs have a certain life ... so many hours. Anytime they are on when you really dont need them, then yes, they will wear out prematurely. The question is ... how premature. If your talking a few seconds here and there, I doubt it matters

However, for example, some bi-xenons use the xenon bulb FULL time for DRL (vice the Halogens blinking on/off rapidly in the MINI) and that means they will wear out much quicker (since they are always on)

I wouldnt worry about it
