Hot Disk Brake Problem

Hot Disk Brake Problem
I just purchased a used 2003 MCS PP/SP/CWP with 56,000 miles from the Mini dealer in Indianapolis. Before I took delivery the did a complete brake job
The problem I have is that the rear right brake gets extremely hot. Hot enough that water will sizzle on the disk. The other 3 brakes are relatively cool. Also after long drives when braking that brake will make a noise, a high pitched noise. I took it back to the dealer and they could not find anything wrong. The measured the temperature on the left side at 170 and on the right at 210. They said this was normal, that all Mini’s run hotter on the right side. I am a mechanical engineer and this does not seem right

something does not sound right here.
im thinking what ever rotor is heating up that the caliper is hanging up and not releasing the rotor all the way.
there is no way that the rotor should be that hot, i had a 2003 MCS and i never ever had a problem like that.
You need to take it to another dealer or take it back to them and tell them they are stupid and need to get a new mechanic.

I had a faulty rear caliper from the factory. The pads and rotors were replaced under warranty twice before I could convince the dealership that the problem was with the caliper.
Did you save the pads from the brake job? I'd be willing to be that one of the rear pads was worn down further than the other 3. That's how it was on mine. The inside right rear pad would wear down to nothing when the other 3 still had more than 1/2 pad remaining.
All MINI's with a defective right rear caliper will run hotter, but not all MINI's. . . .
