Mushroomed?.....please raise your hand.

I brought my MINI in this morning to have mushroomed strut towers inspected (and hopefully fixed), but to no avail. The service center did in fact confirm my towers are both deformed, but they refuse to do anything to fix them - neither warranty or otherwise...So, what - they're supposed to continue to mushroom until the struts come through the bonnet?

Anyone that drives regularly on Long Island can say that this isn't a matter of "avoidable road hazards".....the roads are in horrendous shape!

So, who's mushroomed, and better yet did your dealer fix the problem?

I feel that this should be a warranty issue without question.

I would definitely try another dealer.

Hassel - the name says it all.
I just did it myself - albeit begrudgingly.

Been there, done that. My experience (including fixing the problem myself) can be found here.

Also, see this thread for non-violent mushroom repair.

I asked my dealer about the mushrooming and they said they fix it. The tech even pointed out to me where exactly it occurs. But warranty wise, they won't cover it.

Thread merge????

It might be a good idea to merge all of the threads about mushrooming into a single thread....

How 'bout a forum so we can shoot for a recall or something. To have to take a BFH to a 2-month old $30,000 car that is the supposed end-all, be-all of engineering is a little disconcerting.
