Airbag light on .... Why???
#1
I took out my passenger seat the other day and in doing so I unplugger the three connectors under there. I noticed that the airbag light came on when they were unplugged. When I put the seat back in I was very careful to plug all 3 connectors back in and make sure they were with the right plugs and put the seat back in. Now when I turn the car on the dash lights go through their normal diagnostic and the lights go out, then the airbag light comes on again. Is there a reset that's necessary when this happens? It kinda scares me that one of my airbags is not working or something, and I don't want the dealer yelling at me for the seat. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks a lot!!!

You need to get the airbag faults cleared by someone with a diagnostic computer (at this point, that means the dealer). Faults are stored even if you have reconnected the airbags. Depending on the system, with a fault stored, the airbag system may choose to deploy all airbags in the event of a collision. Take it to the dealer ASAP!

I assume that you started your car with the seat removed?
If you had removed and replaced the seat, but did not start the car without it, I don't think the light would have com on.
As mentioned. Once the light is on it will stay on until the dealer resets it.
This is good as a faulty contact could fail just at the moment it's needed. The ecu cannot tell if your seat airbag was lost due to you removing the seat or the connector becoming faulty.

Isn't that where the wife rides? I wouldn't worry then. I had the light thing too. I told my wife the light means its working. You mean I was wrong? Damn I'll have to make time to get it fixed. MINI of Nashville found the fualt, a bad seatbelt connector, but don't worry it is the passenger problem.

You mean they found the fault but didn't actually fix the sensor? That seems kind of strange...
Goofy comments about your wife aside , you should get the problem fixed for reasons cited above...i.e., the ECU is designed to selectively deploy airbags depending on the type of collison. If the system thinks one or more bags is bad (which it would if there's a code set on the computer), it might deploy incorrectly...and that could be worse than no airbags at all. Get it fixed.
