wiring harness in battery box problems

I have been having problems with the wiring harness in the battery box. Basically what is happening is the car will die or won't start. It will turn over adn oall of the interior accessories come on but the engine will nto start. If I move the cables and wires around then everything is fine, for a while until it happens again. It is with the accessory cable that runs out of the fuse box and down the drivers side of the car. I have pulled it out and checked it for damage and there are no signs of anything wrong. No outward signs that is.

Any advise would be greatly appreicated. I am out of warranty so taking it is not an option.

I would suggest either masking a return to the dealer an option at your expense (sometimes there are Manufacturer prgrams that would take care of these issues) or go to your yellow pages and find an Auto Electrician firm, they've helped me out of some real problems before.

sounds like a warranty repair. if you're still within the period, i would
suggest you take it in.

Ed....it sounds like you have a shorted wire or a pin retention problem.

^^ yeh the thing about that harness is that i think it has an auto cutoff
device for when the car gets into a serious accident. i just hope that
it's not something related to that module. that's why i recommend you
take it in to be sure.

Yeah, I thought of that, but it is not ont he wire with the charge. There are two wires, one with a charge goes to the starter adn the other has a 200 Amp fuse. I think it is shorted out. There are four smaller wires that come off of it too. Two of them come form the air bag control to the charge for the starter wire. Not sure what the other two are for. It is mysterious though since all of the accessories work, the car just own't run, oh and the boot own't open adn one of the brake lights come on.:impatient

Try checking the ground straps. A bad ground in these cars can cause some strange problems. Also check the end of your positive battery cable for corrosion. If the insulation on the battery cable looks lumpy, you may have corrosion in the cable. Hope this helps. I hate electrical problems!!

It was the ground. The grounding block at the back driver side was loose. I think I didn't tighten it enough after I installed the water pump for my water sprayer. It was WAY loose. Seems to have fixed the problem.

That would do it homey. Glad to see you fixed it.
