Slight hiss when I shift
I have noticed lately that when I shift after 4500 rpm I can hear a hiss coming from the engine, presumably the SC. I don't remember hearing this before. It sounds like a mini version of that some turbo and sc cars sound like when the sc or turbo is winding down on idle. Is this the issue? Is it even an issue?
The only thing I've done to the car is a JCW intake which I took the flap out of and plugged up the vacuum line.

Could it be...
the sound created by the throttle body closing? My wife noticed a sound similar to what you describe - she intially described it as a "pshhhh" when I'd shift, ala a blow-off sound on turbo'ed cars. When I finally recognized it, it's the throttle body butterfly closing when you lift off the gas (air) pedal just prior to shifting. It's rather easy to hear through my Madness CAI with cowl mod.

I agree. I have had my alta so long, i wouldn;t even be able to notice it now, but it is most likeley the throttle body. No worries....
