Weird noise "Beneath the Bonnet"
Audio clip added. Just click the question mark at the bottom of this post. It'll take you to the clip.
Good Morning and happy Sunday everyone!
Well, I'll just get straight to the point. Under the bonnet, there is a noise that sounds like...hmmm....a metal on metal "somethings loose" noise. It can be heard while idle, but you can hear a single "tink" when you go from reverse to drive. The noise isn't comming from the tranny, I just think that the rocking motion makes it hit something. Any ideas?
Its a 2005 MCS Auto Tranny, an ALTA intake is the only performance mod.
I'm having a 15% Reduction pulley installed on the 5th, so I want to make sure shes in tip top shape. I dont want the dealer declining any warranty work! :impatient
Thank you everyone!
Naturally, when I go out there to record the noise, its gone. I really don't even hear it anymore. I recorded it idling just incase I'm missing it or something. (The reason it gets louder and softer is because I was getting closer to the pulley assy.)

A long ago when I lived in the third world (Caribou, Maine) my truck suddenly developed a loud clank. Once when I started moving, once when I stopped or reversed. Took it into the shop and they found one of their mechanics had left a tool in the engine compartment, which I had heard flopping around. Glad it didn't run afoul of any moving parts.

That'd be my guess, too. Mine had similar symptoms... a rattling noise sounding like it was coming from passenger side under the bonnet... I thought it might be a wobbly pulley or something like that. Turned out to be right motor mount - replaced under warranty early this month. Seems common in Texas after about 12-18 mos. Mine is a 2005 MCS Manual. Good luck.

Heavyweight, low frequency. about 2 times a second while idling.
Just and update, I have an appt with Baron BMW (My dealer) on thursday the 2nd.
Thanks for all the help. I'm suspecting its the motor mount, as I've seen quite a few problems with them.
Thanks for all the replies, and I'll let you know what the techs figure out.
