Heater Problems

Heater Problems
I have an 03 Cooper that is having strange problems.
Start the car, engine temps get up to mid range but cannot seem to get hot air from the heater. Take that back, sometimes get hot air from the heater.
Does not seem to make any difference whether or not in recycle mode or not.
It has 55K miles on it and is due in for service this week. Out of warrantee.
Anything I should look for?
