The filter is a old style canister filter not a spinon. Many european cars still use this obsolete design instead of the modern spinon style. If you go to the other oil filter thread you can see how to take it off and where it is.

The oil filter is on the passenger side, visible from the top, to the rear of the engine. It is a silver canister with a 36mm hex facing up. Look directly behind the MINI logo on the valve cover.

They probably wouldn't have a filter and frankly, I wouldn't trust them with my Briggs and Stratten, much less my "S". MB

Hey I work at a sort of quickie oil change place, we do a lot of other services too but oil changes make up about 60%-70% of our revenue, during the summer and i resent that remark.

Err ok maybe not since we are a localy owned and operated business and not affiliated with the evil Jiffy Lube chain. I wouldn't go there for anything but our shop does good work.

We don't carry the MINI filters right now because their just aren't enough of them on the road. There are a few other exotic/low production cars that we have the same problem with. We tell all customers that they are more then welcome to bring in their own filter or if they call in a couple days ahead we can special order the filter.

We do a lot of medium duty trucks and a few heavy duty ones as well and thats how the system works for them too. Their filters are soooo expensive and the trucks come in so infrequently that keeping them in stock would be a huge waste of money. It is cheaper for us to special order them a few days ahead of time then to always keep them in stock.
