Disable brake pad sensor

Is there a way to disable the brake pad sensor, or possibly short it? I'd rather not have to go about changing it every time I change my pads, as I check them every time I change my tires seasonally anyway. Any suggestions?

You don't have to change them each time you do pads unless it is worn through and "opened" the circut
If you are running different pads (maybe for the track, that dont have sensors)
Just leave the "extension" wire in the connector and zip tie up out of the way. Or make a circut conection out of an old sensor by CONNECTING the 2 wires.

Hope this helps ... is this your question ?

Ya, what he said.

The sensors only "work" when they have been rubbed thru and the dash indicator comes on. I replaced my pads and just hung the rear sensor off of the rear suspension.

Yup if the light isn't on no need to replace the sensor, mine is double backed and zip tied in place. I just do a quick check of the pad thickness when I detail the MINI and a lot more closely when I rotate the tires.

Defeating Brake Pad Wear Sensor Warning Light

If your warning light is on then the sensor has been worn through and circuit "opened" (as someone else mentioned). If you cut the sensor wire (say 4" back from the caliper) and slit the sheath open, there are 2 single conductor wires inside. Shave some insulation off them and twist the ends together (the part of the wire leading into the body, not the part left attached to the caliper!). Tape it up and you're done. This will close the circuit and turn the warning light off. Tried and tested - it works!
