Change hood release cables
Anyone done it?
Mine seem to be stretched beyond useable length.
Stealership has the part sitting waiting for me to pick it up, but im looking to see if anyone has done the replacement and has some words of wisdom for me.
No, im not under warranty
No, im not paying someone to put it in

No clue friend but if it were me, I'd measure the cable itself and see if a similar wire rope (cable = electrical wire, wire rope is what you have, just FYI) can be had at either a bicycle shop or a wire rope supplier. Just clip off the swaged fitting on the hood end and pull the old wire rope out. Buy a new wire rope with a swage on the hood release handle end that matches the stock one and then get a screw-on end for the latch end and you can adjust it forever. Buy at least a foot more than you actually need, trust me, it makes life easier.

parts are only 40$CAN for the 'updated piece'.
I am going to get the fresh OEM parts and hope it lasts.
My car has 155K on it, and its an 02, so things do wear down over time.
If the car lasts another 5 years, 155K on the second cable, its 40$ well spent.
if not, hood pins or some sort of magyver replacement will go in.
Anyone done this task? curious on how hard it is to swap the cables.
