Electric Window Problem?

on my dads bmw by holding the open button for longer than 5 seconds all the windows goes down, and by holding the lock button down for more than 5 seconds all the windows goes up.

where as on my mini getting the windows down by holding the open button is perfectly fine, but when holding the lock button the windows doesn't go up!

is this normal? or is this a fault in the electrics?

thank you for your time :D

It's normal for a MINI. They must have decided that a MINI driver is likely to have a friend in the car who will be inclined to stick his head through the window while it is going up. BMW drivers, apparently, are much too serious to know such people.

yep thats normal, we can put the windows down the the key but have to have the key in the ignition and turned on (don't have to start the car) to close the windows.

You can ALSO close all the windows by putting the key in the door lock, and HOLD it in the "LOCK" position, and this will also close the windows/sunroof/etc.

bmw's don't do that any more either. Your dad's car must be about a 2000 or earlier model?

They phase that stuff in and out, even on mini's. Probably depending on the legal dept.'s mood.

I wish I had double lock.
