Radio won't turn off!
Hey everyone,
I bought my 2003 MCS one week ago. The previous owner fitted an aftermarket head unit but the OEM CD player was replaced (at my request)before i took ownership.
The radio now won't turn off when the ignition is turned off and key removed! It reminds me of my old VW... All of the connections on the back are securely fastened.
Any ideas?

is the door still closed when you take out the key? cause in all other minis the radio still plays if you dont get out your car.
but if it does keep playin after gettin out..it should have to do with the radio being able to play while in the car.
im just telling you wat im thinking. hopefully it gets fixed dont want to suck your battery life away.

So you have the original MINI radio re-installed. Wrongly apparently!
There are TWO 12V feeds to the radio (pins 15 & 16); one is permanent to maintain memory - it also allows you to turn the radio on/off by pressing volume while the key is removed.
The other, of course, is ignition 12V - it will cause the radio to turn on/off automatically with ignition.
Sounds like either the two 12V have been mixed up, or maybe the 12V ignition switched feed is simply missing.
You can turn it on by pressing volume presumably - if you do that and just drive, does it turn itself after 20-25 minutes? If so, that demonstrates no 12V ignition feed. But if it stays on forever, that shows the 12V permanent is on the ignition input.
Either way, you'll need to fix the wiring behind the radio - presumably the previous owner cut wires instead of using an adaptor, and re-connected them wrongly.

My radio won’t stay off
The factory installed radio in my 2005 mini convertible will not stay off. This began suddenly. If I hold the power button in for about thirty-seconds it stays off most of the time, but sometimes it just starts playing on it’s own. Is it haunted or something less supernatural going on here?
