Mini Service Clueless about Software
#1
I've read many of the posts on this site about changes to the software for the Mini. My car hesitates when the a/c is on and I'm starting from a stop. Mentioned this problem and the software update to 2 people at the Universal City service and they both just scratched their heads and said they've never heard of it.........Anyone gotten this response?
One more thing: is it in the contract to offer you a loaner during service or not? Anyone know?

True - some dealerships are bit behind the times on the software upgrade issue.
The loaner issue has been discussed many times. You may get various responses on this. My understanding is - it is up to the individual dealer - and if your car is going in for warranty work, then yes - you get a loaner.

Batticus,
We live about 4 hours north of LA. Kind of 1/2 way between LA and SF. It's a real pain in the a$$ to get it to the dealer. Bought the MCS from Nick Alexander. Been there twice for warranty work. Happy so far. Got loaners both times. Told them we live out of town and they have been very easy to get along with, maybe knowing we have to trek quite a ways, don't know. We get the car in early and they get it out quick.
Chad is the service manager, and seems to know the car. Maybe try them. Hope this helps.

Had a similar deer in headlights look from the service center in San Antonio as well. They stated that teh software upgrade that was remedying the hesitation issue was only limited to Coopers with an automatic transmission.
Are they full of it, can anyone elaborate?
Also they have not set up a loaner program for Mini's .Already two warranty calls, and have to make arrangements accordingly. Do they also owe me something for this inconvenience. I'm their worst client, and i'm sure they hate to see me coming in. So far not to impressed with their follow up abilites, Once they got my $$ for my S, it's almost Hasta la Vista Baby!!

When I contacted my MINI service advisor about the hesitation and almost-stalling problem of my MINI Cooper, specially when the AC is on; my MINI service advisor told me that MINI USA is aware of the problem but they have not come up with a fix.
Proving once more that they are either unaware of software updates or they don't want to mention it at all.

Is this another stumble thread? I'm having trouble keeping up with the other five or six that are already out there. You know this is laughable, but with all the data and gazillions of posts about stumbling, low-end performance off the line, hesitation hiccups, A/C performance woes, let's see what else, oh, cold start issues, stalling, jerking, bucking. That'll about cover it. With all of that data in all of these threads and MINI DOESN'T GET IT YET? To be fair, when I posted something like this earlier, one of the MCO members said MINI had been in touch with him about it and MINI was very aware of the problem(s). But what about a game plan? A schedule, an expected fix date? I'm tired of being kept in the dark about this very frustrating issue. I'll need a new clutch next after 10000 miles of slipping it to try to smooth this out.

Check this thread for what Mini USA did to fix mine:

My dealer doesn't give free loaners whether it's for warranty work or not.
