I got two errors on obd, both were the same...

Heat sensor low, bank 1, sensor 1

03 Cooper, no mods, 70k miles

It is the O2 sensor. I had the code cleared and if it comes back, I will drop in a new sensor. Maybe it is like every other fault that popped up for no reason... Time will tell.

chances are it's not the o2 sensor. it's a wiring issue unplug the sensor and plug it back in. there is a build up of corrsion on the connector causing your fault.

It was a wiring issue. The insulation was wearing off the wires due to extremely poor routing of the wire.

I also have a 03 mini cooper base model and have this code popping up. P0031. Oddly my check engine light only turns on when my car comes to temp and only in the winter. I live in Colorado where they add a additive to the fuel to keep it from freezing.... Not like good ol Arizona. I've heard this additive will change the temp of the vehicle. Anyone know if this is true? And is this a reason why this code is popping up??

Thanks for your time
Phil
