Hell ya. That's doesn't sound like a bad trade off. Love me some M's. One day I will have one.

For the guys who are rubbing, did you guys rub through the carpet? I had to take off my 17's for the 16's because the offset/tire was too aggressive and rubbed right through the carpet splash guard. I have megan coils and the springs seem to be too soft. Unless I can adjust them stiffer

Yes, I did rub through the fender liner a little bit. I put some duct tape on it to solve that. (That stuff solves everything).

Boosted, I measured 2.5 inches from my side skirt to the ground now that I lowered the rear. I believe I measured around 22.5 inches from the middle of the fender to the ground. I just bought some BBS RS wheels that are 16" so my car will be even lower then... :O

Sorry, you can't make a spring stiffer by adjusting. To go stiffer you need to replace the spring. You could add spring rubbers but they are usually used as a temporary solution.

Yeah on my current setup I measured 21.5" fender to ground. But I dont really need to go any lower. 16s just look small. And I dont want to worry about brake clearance on them.

You are pretty low though, you need a smaller tire to really get as low as you want to be though. I am on a 40 series and it really lowered the **** out of me. I need to go get some measuring done today hahah.

I like it though, glad to see someone else going super and on nice wheels. I should have my SSRs on here next month so we will be ballin together haha. Even though I love RS's

This thread means I need to go lower.. fuhhhhhh. Time to start cutting some shizzz

MINIGEZR - what are your suspension settings? Love the look of all black. Appreciate if you can tell me the measurements front and back for that stance, or how far down on the threads are you F & R?

Thanks man!

new NAM game.. how low can you go!!!

RedAndBlack -

How many threads do you have in the rear left? And how many in the front..

I have like 5 in the rear left so I cant go much lower in the back.. but in the front I think I have like an inch and a half of threads for some reason.

nckash055, Your wheels are amazing! Are those MINI wheels? I can't tell from the center caps!

Boosted, nice! You are very low then. I don't understand how I am 2.5" from ground to side skirt and 22.5" from the fender to ground, but you are 3.5" from the side skirt to the ground but 21.5" from fender to ground. Makes no sense to me! I may need a pic of that for proof

The BBS wheels I am buying have stretched tires on them but the offset is sooo low that I'd need to camber the wheels, front especially, to be able to run them on a daily driver.
Pic:

I am half way down the threads in the rear and I have about a half inch in the front left. If it comes to it, I may take the perches out and be able to go another 1.5-2". But then I'd be around .5" off the ground... not so good! Would look good, but yeah. Not for a daily.

Funny story from today. Haven't been lowered but 1.5 weeks so I haven't run into any real problems yet (except those pesky speed bumps...). Me and 3 friends (so 4 grown men) had to go around 2 miles away, and they all wanted to ride in my car. Wasn't thinking, so I let them. As soon as we got out of the parking lot, every single one of my wheels was rubbing like a *****! It was the worst noise I've ever heard. I arrive where I need to be after what seemed like the longest drive I have EVER made (even though it was probably the shortest...) and my tires didn't make it out too well... major rub marks on the outsides of the tires on all 4 corners.

Edit: Also- How do you still have the lower valance (even if trimmed) if you are 21.5" off the ground? That thing is 3.5", and about 2" once you trim off the flimsy part, which you are then left with a hard plastic valance. If mine was still on, it would be scraping the ground 99.9% of the time!

Here is my front before I went down a few threads and did some cutting to that rubber valance piece hahaha.

Yeah I will have to do some measuring. We tried to fit a low-pro jack from harbor freight that support 3 3/8" and we couldnt get it under my car. So I might be a little lower on the skirt side, but I know the fender side is that cause i did that measurement myself the skirt was my gf helping haha.

Either way we shall be low haha!!! Sounds like you had some fun with those guys in the car.. I know how you feel. I was on some 225/45 hankook ventus v12s at first when i got on coils.. and they rubbed the strut cause of how wide they were.. its not a pretty site haha! Luckily discount tire gave me some 205/40s for in exchange for the 225s haha!

Yeah I think we would go low as fuhhh but DDing wont ever happen.

Stoked for RS's!!

Random; thought..

If I had lower profile tires, I'd be .5" off the ground in a second. I'd go out to my garage right now and slam those babies. (If my car wasn't at the mini dealership getting timing chain fixed- was leaking oil, don't think it was torqued correctly from the factory, or at least I've been told).

Your car looks good though. If one thing comes out of this, it is that Minis really are not pretty cars in stock form. But they have a ton of potential.

Here is a pic of my car before I lowered the back- I think we are about the same height.

How do some of you guys manage to not tear the bottom of your cars up when you go over speed bumps and other common things you might find?

low.n.slow.

I have 6 speed bumps at work.. I have to avoid 3. I scrape my mudflaps on 2 and I am lucky on the last one I dont scrape.

I have hit my subframe, skirts, flaps, bumper.. on things, but never that hard. I drive slow and very cautiously. Also I have routes with the best roads on them.

I personally do tear up the bottom of my car from time to time on excessively steep driveways or unnaturally high speed bumps. Anything and everything can be fixed with a little elbow grease Half the joy of being a car enthusiast is working on your car.

side by side comparison

Here's my JCW after the ST coils went on. Cooper S with sport suspension along side. Pretty noticeable drop from stock!
