I just got a new set of KW V3 and waiting for the 5mm spacers, before i take them out. I am changing the H&R coilovers streets to much more serious setting for track. The H&R are great, but i wanted something more for seatings. The front passenger shock is begining to show some sign of usage, so this is another reason for changing them, which i would not be able to use with the setup i am going on.

I was thinking something like $450.00 to $550.00 price range. This is a great deal.

2009 JCW Clubman sitting on H&R Street Performance coil overs.

Overall the ride comfort is better than the stock sport suspension and the handling is drastically improved

Car is lowered 1.25 in front and .75 in the rear.

I was a bit disappointed in how inaccurate H&Rs website and literature was on the coils though. They claim they'd go from .62-2+ in drop. The front of the car is at max ride height right now with the 1.25 drop under stock (more than double what they claim).

I have a few questions to which some of you may be able to address.

1. When lowering with springs, did you install some kind of camber kits/plates to ensure proper alignments? If not, how do your tires wear?

2. When lowering with coilovers, are camber kits/plates necessary? Some of the coilovers have front camber plates built in, which i assume can be adjusted for proper alignment, but what about the rear? Do rear alignment become negative with coilovers?

3. Other than camber kits/plates, what other parts i should get to help avoid negative camber? i.e. lower control arms, or link, or whatever?

I'd appreciate for the information. Thanks in advance.

Hello all! I just had NM Springs put on my 2011 Mini Cooper S today and I must say they are exactly what I was looking for. The ride is a little bit more firmer overall which I don't mind at all and the amount lowered is perfect. As soon as it got down from the lift I was 100% stoked. And then when you get behind the wheel, it felt so much more like a sports car with the drop. Here's a couple pics as well.

Looks great! NM springs are high on my list of first changes.

"bit more firmer overall"...were you on Sport Suspension before? Just curious as to what to expect.

well....

I want my cake and to eat it too!! I want to get rid of the horrible stock gap I currently have so I know I need to do at least a 1.2-1.5 drop but I dont want to have to deal with a crazy "bumby" ride..... I used to own a 2010 VW gti and had eibachs on it and did not like the ride at all so those are definitly off my choices im considering the NM springs or the HR"s but there has been too much back and forth comments almost 50-50 about these two choices and it"s kinda confusing I don"t know what to believe at this point...ive read through this thread and also some on "motoringunderground" but still have not been able to come up with a difinitive solution,,,if you could post some pics along with your suggestions/advice... I think this will help me decide much easier I"ve posted a pic of my current set up I am running stock r98 17" wheels with the runflats

Thanks in advance

Easiest solution is to find a local club or people local here and ask for a ride. I went from the Sport suspension on my JCW Clubman and the car rides better on the H&R coil overs than it did on the stock setup.

Here is my Roadster on NM Alpha springs. I'm super happy with the ride and handling. I'm running these with the stock "sport" shocks and it's a good match. These springs are more compliant allowing the wheels to track better on rough surfaces. They actually ride better than the stock "sport" springs I ordered on the car. I also installed a 19mm SB while I was in there...great combo. The Roadster rotates perfectly now. I think the NM springs are the perfect combo of handling/lowering/comfort for a Daily Driver.

I have the Sport Suspension on my R56. I wanted to make sure that the H&R's were not a softer ride than my SS set up. What are your thoughts?

I hope someone could help me, i found some H&R springs that i want to buy, but they're for R56, and i have a R55. I understand about the spring rate difference but besides that, would they still fit?

Hope you guys can help, THANKS

I have a 2013 R56. I'm debating between Eibach Pro-Kit springs or NM engineering, but the question i really want answered is, Will my shocks last me at least 2 years or about 30-40k miles on either springs? I've only got about 7.5k miles on her so far. Daily driven, but freeway most of the time. I barely encounter bad roads that have my car dancing on her ALREADY-hard suspension. I'll need time before i can save up for decent coils though. Let me know asap! thanks guys!

You will probably do about 2 years, and then the suspension will get so bouncy that you will hop and skip over every bump. Then you will want coilovers

This is why I have resolved to never again get springs - it's been the recurrent pattern with every car I've had. But if you are fully aware that in 2 years you will need to replace the shocks then it's a safe way to go

I think you will last the 2 years provided the MINI is not being overloaded on a regular basis. If you normally only have 1-2 people you will be fine.

Another source to ask is Way and waymotorworks.com, he is also the source for TSW linear springs, that might also work with OEM shocks and last the 2 years.

If you live in pothole city, then it won't last as long as two years. You'll need to replace it with Koni's or a different shock setup. But initially the two years is the max.

This is the answer i've been looking for. So i was going to go with Koni Yellows within the 2 year period. How long would these shocks/struts last me since these are made more for lowering springs? Same 2 years? or longer? and i also wondering if i would need to buy new springs AGAIN? You've been a big help so far though. thanks.

Yeah, nothing like that over here, haha. I see, but after i replace it with Koni's, how long will i be set until i need to replace either the springs or shocks/struts, or even both?
