So I am going to be doing some preventive maintenance on the Mini I plan on getting next weekend does a strut tower bar protect against mushrooming or do you need to get the brackets also.
What brackets? Front strut bars have brackets which affix them to the strut towers. Also unless you plan on lowering your Mini mushrooming shouldn't be an issue.
Yes they do sometimes sell the brackets separately. The reason I was confused is because you said also, implying the need for brackets in addition to a front strut brace, which you don't

Good point I think MINI fixed that issue with the 2nd gen design. I have cracked two front wheels in massive potholes and have NO signs of mushrooming towers.
