This is my first post but I just installed the NM springs, and the H-Sport 25.5 rsb on my 2010 Justa. In a word...Amazing! Did the install by my self in my drive way with just hand tools and no spring compressors. Did the whole job in about 2.5 hours. The car handles so well now! Best $500 I've ever spent on a car. If your still debating on the upgrade just bite the bullet and do it! You won't be sorry!

Before I buy a set of these springs should I be worried about rubbing with a 205-55-16 tire?

205 55 16 and NM Springs

I've tried this on my '09 Clubman S and they work fine with no more than two people in the car. If I load up three people with nothing else (no luggage for example), I get rubbing on the fender liner in the rear at about the 10 o'clock to 11 o'clock position on the right rear wheel and the same respective position on the left rear. The rubbing occurs on bumps only, but I'm changing tire sizes because I need to be able to carry stuff.

Guess I won't be getting these springs then. I only really drive around with me and a passenger but I don't want to deal with any kind of rubbing. My last car was lowered and it was a great mod just couldn't live with the ride quality anymore. Maybe I'll do the cheaper coil-over kit and only drop the car 0.5 to 1.0 all around. I'm not looking for to much performance gain other than closing up the wheel gap a tiny bit.

Really considering these but what is this about the need to cut the bump stops? My car is leased and I can't be doing any crazy cutting . Would I have to do the same with say Eibach springs?

Just cut them. No worries. I'm on my third Cooper s lease and still cutting. You will need to cut them with eibachs as well.

Oh, and this is not something that they can notice and want to charge me for at lease end or something? Or would it be a problem once I put the stock springs back at lease end?

The right thing to do is put your factory springs back on at the end of the lease. When you do so, you "could" order new bump stops. It's no biggie to have the cut bump stops on with the factory springs. Your call. And no, the bump stops are not on their wear and tear checklist when they do your lease end inspection.

Cool, by the way my bird just **** on me for asking a dumb question I've read this entire thread, and others, some people say the ride is stiffer/more harsh, others say its the same or better than stock. I know the car will handle better but I'm talking comfort here. I've got stock 16" runflats and already think the ride is fairly harsh, would definitely not want it to get any worse. Whats your take?

Better on some roads, worse on others. I find it less harsh going over typical roads with minor imperfections. But over uneven pavement sections it's worse. Becomes a bit unsettled. Part of switching to a progressive rate spring.
I have the 17's with sport suspension and these springs. I find it the perfect setup.

Don't do it unless you plan to cut the bump stops. Is lowering a leased car even going to affect anything? Lots of pre-leased cars for sale are lowered.

Either way don't lower it with any spring unless you cut them. It'll be bouncy. The stock suspension already rides on the bumptstops slightly.

Yea I don't mind cutting them, you can always get new ones I just wasn't thinking. However I would mind a harsher ride, even though increased handling would be nice. I'd rather stay at stock comfort level or better, than have a harsher ride with better handling. I live in North NJ and go to NYC very often, the roads around here will swallow you. Ask the two right tires (continental dws) on my last car.

You little shiet!!! I never said I wouldn't, YOU said you were going to get the chrome blacked out and I said if you are doing that, you are better off getting it wrapped in black vinyl.

I didn't want black, I wanted yellow and since they don't have mellow yellow vinyl, I was left with no choice.

Any chance of painting a set and shipping?

At +30K mine are just the same as when I put them on. No "settling", no squeaks and no complaints. +

Installed the NM springs yesterday, ..no spring compressors, no "buddy" method assist..or air tools...just me and basic hand tools, was easier than I expected....wish I'd not waited so long to do this!

..just wanted to get rid of a bit of the wheel gap, but so far the ride feels better than stock..even with the same factory shocks/struts.

..the real test will be in a couple of weeks...on another group drive thru the Tx hills......lookin forward to it!

Awesome. You won't regret. Gotta commend you on getting it done in 2.5 hours. It took my friend and I at least 3!

I am planning on buying my NM springs either later tonight or tomorrow.

two questions;

1) Anyone know where I can get a better deal on them? They seem to price the same everywhere and the one or two vendors who are cheaper I've never used. 10% off would be awesome.

2) has anyone installed them using the bump stop kit from Way Motor Works? What's the advantage to just cutting the stock ones?

^Lowest I've seen them is on MossMINI. I am looking to buy them for the gf's MINI, but I want to know how many people have the front higher than the rear.

Just in case anyone is interested here is a good DIY spring install link. It's for the R53/56 but should be current for recent models. I did the suspension twice on my old R53 (H-Sport/Koni FSD) and found it very easy to follow if you have some basic skills.

Great thread! I'm literally about to order the JCW suspension/springs tomorrow but now I'm thinking of buying the NM springs. I currently have Eibach springs on the stock sport suspension and the ride is waaaay too rough.

I have no idea if my bump stops are cut. I wonder if that would help my current setup? I have just about 60K miles and I'm worried that the stock struts may be worn out with my current setup.

Do you guys suggest me replacing the struts and the springs??

Thanks so much!

-Steve
