endlinks are adjusted according to drop so that your bars are not loaded

Control arms aren't really a necessity though. The camber in the rear won't get too out of control. Not enough to mess with tire wear.

Hehe didn't forget them, but I know his budget is less than 2500, so I went for endlinks rather than control arms. If he doesn't drastically lower the car, the camber should be ok.

What would you consider to be drastically lowered?

You might want to talk to Rally about this. Maybe he'll jump in. He's kind of a suspension guru. I would give you more advice, but he knows way more about this stuff and has way more experience.

If you lower about 25mm, I would say you wouldn't need control arms, but then again, that's not from personal experience, but from what I've read, because the one time I had coilovers on my R53, I already had adjustable rear control arms.

I think once you start lowering more than that, the camber starts to get hard to adjust back to stock.

I think i might have been talked into the Koni FSD with linear springs (NM springs maybe). Does anyone know how much lower NM springs are? And maybe i'm heading into a different section but i am getting 235/40/17 et+40 tires. Will i run into a problem with clearing the springs?

Koni FSD are great, but I wouldn't run them with NMs (too low). FSDs are made for stock height, so I'd go with either TSW linears, or stock.

I'd also vote for yellows with NM springs, that's what I'm planning on.

Sounds like some conflicting information. Ron any problems with the suspension (i am pretty sure you were commenting on just the tire clearance) The good news is there is no significant price difference between the two. Benefits of FSD over yellows and vice versa? This is going on a street car with possible autoX use in the future. Otherwise i'm all NYC flat pothole cornering and highway exit/entrance ramp fun.

This is from KONI web site
: http://www.koni-na.com/fsdeibach.cfm

KONl`s latest technology accomplishes the task that has eluded most shock makers until now - great handling + excellent ride quality:
> Excellent ride quality on all road surfaces
> Available for most newer cars - more coming
> Pair with Eibach springs for 1"-1.5" lowering
> Gold metallic finish shocks
> Dark metallic gray springs in kits
> Less expensive than electronic systems
> Lifetime Warranty

This is from NM Web site
: http://nm-eng.com/

NM RSα progressive rate spring kits provide a responsive ride, sharper handling characteristics and lowered ride height. Using exacting spring rates and precision manufacturing techniques, RSα springs provide a more pleasurable motoring experience.
Lowering Rate:
30mm (1.2") Fr • 25mm (1.0") Rr
Finish:
Powder Coated NM Blue

Why would not the NM springs work just as well as the Eibach with FSD? If you look at NM web site they sell Koni FSDs.

I ran the KONI FSDs and NM and had zero problems.

Why do they list Eibachs on the website --- If you call and ask they will certainly sell you the KONI Eibach combination as listed on the link on the earlier post. Go the Web site and look call them I have. Call NM and ask.

This FSD debate is burried in another thread somewhere. A member called Koni tech support (not sales) and was told the Koni's with eibach's use a different valving and are not made for our cars (yet).

I think JamesHunt is the go to guy on this.

Ron

Call koni tech support and ask(if you are too lazy to call ask Way motor works), koni will tell you the facts about FSD SHOCKS AND MINIS because koni has to warranty the shock.

Fsd will work with lowering springs on other makes.

Nm will tell you what you want to hear ,they are a marketing company.

I dont like to take info from websites, cos that might be for a different car, just copy and pasted. If you can get insider info, I'd prefer to go with that.

Koni Yellows+ NM/Eibach/TSW/Swift would be very nice I'd say

FSDs are NOT designed to work with lowering springs on the MINI.
However for other vehicles, they are.
