Installed new M7 Strut Bar

I went ahead and picked up a M7 strut bar since M7 is not too far from where I live here in So Cal. Decided to go with it and took out the JCW strut (which is now for sale) because it was obstructing my dampening **** on my Megan Racing Coilovers.

Steve J. from Megan Racing (no longer there) lives close by me so he gave me a bit of the history on the Megans and I learned a lot about suspension stuff from him yesterday and I appreciated the knowledge he passed on to me. I really like this forum, so hopefully I can contribute more in the future.

Thanks!

looks like you have the stock air box, ...do you know by chance if the M7 strut bar will fit w/ the DDM street intake? -guess I can email M7, ..yet curious if anyone has tried fitting this bar to the DDM intake?

There is an issue with the M7 STB and the stock air box. When you put the car in reverse the airbox will bump up against the STB. I had this setup on my car for just about 1 year and it did not cause any damage to the airbox. Just an annoying noise.

This only happened in reverse.

The M7 STB does not work with the NM Engineering intake at all.

In this picture, you can see where the strut bar rubbed up against the NM intake and the bar was only on for a minute or 2 while the engine was idling & the car was not in gear.

It was listed in the Marketplace for a few months. I finally sold it to a guy in Chicago.

Airbox looks the same as what we call the JCW factory airbox in the UK. Think USA mini's get this as standard on the MCS.

But interestingly M7 on their own website state the normal brace does not fit and the J brace is required.

Yes,
and that is why I have J-brace with JCW airbox:

No issues with fitment or rubbing or else...

Just wondering why M7 fitted it on the OP's car if they are saying it does not fit on their website? Strange.
