Suspension Got a set of Koni FSD - can easily compress them by hand. Is it normal?

I can put one end of the shock on the ground and push on the other and completely compress the shock without much effort.
After released they will extend slowly.
Is this normal?
Or shocks are shot?

Springs control compression, shocks just control how fast it compresses and rebounds. I can't say if what you feel is normal or not, but I have some new ones to install and I will know in a while how easy new ones compress.

You can always move the shocks by hand though, I just can't say how easily. I think you are OK.

Normal automotive shocks have the vast majority of their dampining on rebound. (They compress easily but expand hard)

I say normal because some special porpose shocks can be quite different.
(Like front shocks for a drag car which work just the opposite)

So I guess I'm okay - all 4 shocks behaves the same, they can't be all shot.
A year ago I got FSD for my audi a6 and they were much stiffer, but probably because of 1500lbs weight difference between a6 and mini

If you're putting it on the ground, you're using a bit of effort. If you could compress the piston with one hand while holding the shock with the other, that might indicate something.

When I had my FSDs they would compress and rebound easily. They are soft shocks compared to other performance shocks. In my opinion, they were way too soft, but did give a nice ride.
