Coilovers

Since we get a few calls, PMs and emails about ST coilovers I thought I would create a thread with commonly asked questions.

What is the warranty?
5 year warranty

How low can I drop my car?
R50 Models
Lowering front: 0.8"-2.0" / 20-50mm
Lowering rear: 0.8"-2.0" / 20-50mm

Other models
Lowering front: 1.2"-2.2" / 30-55mm
Lowering rear: 1.2"-2.2" / 30-55mm

Does it work on the Clubman?
These will work on 2008 Clubman models only

How do you adjust the height once installed?
You will have to remove your wheels. When adjusting the vehicle height, it is important to make sure that the threads are clean and free of debris. After initial cleaning, move the perch by 10mm downwards, and then clean the area that you desire to adjust the perch (up or down). For the rear you will remove the perch from the vehicle to adjust the height.

Do I have to modify anything to install ST coilovers?
No these are a direct bolt on

Do I need wheel spacers?
In combination with the original wheel and tires, wheel spacers might need to be used. Customers have reported using 5mm spacers.

Can I use these on my daily in the snow?
ST coilovers have a zinc plated strut housing. This helps prevent corrosion from road grim and salt.

Will these rust?
The chances are very slim. Due to the zinc coating it prevents corrosion and maintains durability of the housing.

Are these better than KW coilovers?
STs are equivalent to KW V1s. ST's carry a different warranty and housing. Some KW models offer dampening control when ST coilovers do not. STs come with pre-set dampening by the KW engineers in Germany.

Do you ship to Canada?
Yes we do but free shipping does not apply. We do offer HIGHLY discounted shipping rates.

What is the cost of ST coilovers?
$976 for all four corners

If you have any questions not answered here please let me know.

Are camber plates needed in front to get proper alignment? What is a good camber plate to get for daily driver reliability?

I just had mine installed! Riding great, stiffer than stock but not rough at all, very compliant. Haven't had a chance to push it in the twisties yet.

I had 16x7 et40 Konig Feathers. I bought 5mm spacers, but the tech who installed them said they were unneeded and there was "lots" of clearance. They are lowered about halfway down, I believe. I'm told there is room to go further but the tech felt this was a good height to avoid scraping stuff, etc. Anyway, just something to keep in mind for those considering spacers.

Did you reuse the OEM top strut mounts or do something different?

I believe the OEM mounts are re-used. I didn't buy anything else or get charged by the shop for additional parts For this reason I gather that you can install IE fixed camber plates with the ST's, which is probably a worthwhile addition.
