Thoughts on this suspension package

I have a clubman S and have decided put my mod budget to performance rather than accessories. I have the stock S suspension and 16" R102 S Winder Wheels. I plan on keeping the stock shocks and the 16" wheels. That said I'm looking for insight on the package I've worked up based on reviews I read searching the forums:
  • H-Sport Rear 25mm rear sway bar
  • NM Torque Mount
  • NM or H&R lowering springs on the stock shocks (feel free to provide input if you've tried both)
  • JCW Strut Mount (still skeptical if this is worth $200+, opinions please)
  • Ditch the RFT's for some super grippy/wider 205 50 16 tires (I thinking Dunlop Direzza or Continential Contact sports)
  • NM Engineering Heat Shield (already purchased)
All in all this will cost about $1,500 or so and should make this thing handle amazingly. Feel free to tear it apart and/or offer feedback.

I'm actually in the same boat, but just wondering, what made you choose NM instead (insert brand here)? Was it price or just heard good things about it

I say get coilovers rather than keep stock struts and buy springs. Coilovers ride and handle better and offer adjustability.

I wouldn't say I've chosen them yet. TSW or JCW springs may be a pick too. I may just start slow with the RSB, strut bar and new tires. That may be enough for what I'm looking for. Hoping to hear more from folks that have toyed around with this type of set up vs. replacing shocks and/or coil overs.

I've got a 2012 jcw cooper s with full jcw suspension package including strut bars and sway bars. I'm not happy with the struts and springs .. The ride height is too high and the springs feel like I'm riding on HR sports without the drop.. I've decided if I'm gonna have the lowered ride feel I might as well install HR lowering springs.. Ill have about the same ride but ill get a better ride height until I can afford good coilovers.

Yup. It's not very hard. I learned the hard way installing springs on my old 2007 S in 3 hours. But since than I've done my friends in less than 2. You can pick up a spring compressor at harbor freight for $15 bucks. I would imagine once I get coilovers it will be alot quicker since you don't have to break down old struts.

Not sure about on this car but I've never read where a strut mount helps do anything to the car except for just some under hood bling. I've been contemplating going with either coilovers or getting the H&R Touring cup suspension.

Your list doesn't look bad. For springs I would go with the TSW or NM. The H&R loose too much shock travel and can ride harsh, same with the H&R coilovers, but I've also had vibration problems with H&R's so I avoid them like the plague.
If you need any help your always welcome to call us and we'll help put together a package for you.

And don't forget since your lowering get some Hsport rear camber links to get the rear alignment correct.
