Shock life

Do lowering springs such as H-sports or M7s generally affect the longevity of the stock shocks?

Thanks,
Luke

it really does, my right rear shock started squeeking after 13K, and not abusing the car, just occasional fast runs and daily commute. But on the other side there is ppl that have springs on oem shocks for longer without problems.

Lowering springs will adversly affect the longevity of OEM struts...they do not have the compression needed at that height and will bottom out frequently...bad for your shock towers...

Does that generally mean that the larger the drop the worse the effects will be?

yes...you need a shock with higher compression. Koni Sport set at mid-hard or more works well with HSport springs...

I've had the H-Sport Spring on for 70k+ miles on my MCS. No issues at all.
