Brakes squeaking

hey guys i recently drove out to delaware from philadelphia and my brakes were squeaking to an extreme degree. Any touch of the brakes and they would almost whistle and as i applied harded the pitch got higher . I took it over to my shop put it up on a lift and it turns out the back to rotors have some rust lines and the pads looks fine. so i shaved down the rotors to 9.1 and 8.9 (lowest before failing inspection is 8.4) and the squeak seemed to go away but every now and then ill get a little noise and ive never this problem before.. any ideas?

im also looking to upgrade my brake system to fill out my 18s, but the $$ issue

Most likely the pads or rotors are dirty with something.

Try to clean them really well.

Is the noise coming from the front or rears? Right or left? if you can locate the source then start with that brake first.

Are you using OEM brake pads or some upgraded pad?

Track pads often are noisey. Stock pads are not.

When changing rotors and pads later you can-
use stock OEM or brembo rotors (vented in the front and solid in the rears) and Mintex Redbox pads or EBC green pads for less dust or
Call Alex@tirerack.com and ask about your options for street brake pads for your MINI.
