OEM Tire Pressure Monitor

OEM Tire Pressure Monitor
i finally got rid of the runflats this weekend and got a set of Goodyear F1s in 215.45.17. so far i am really happy. i hated the ride quality of the RFs.
the reason for my post is to ask about the OEM tire pressure monitor. i reset it and normally the light stays lit until i stop and turn on and back on the ignition. this time it lit for a few seconds and went back off. is this how it operates for a reset? any chance the tire installer damaged the sensors on one of the wheels? where are the sensors?
thanks.

With my 2002 MINI, you started the car, and got ready to roll. Then, pressed and held the tire pressure monitor button till the warning light iluminated. Then you drove off, and after a few seconds, the system would recalibrate and the light would go out. It was especially important to drive away, as the monitor used the spinning wheels and the differences in rotational speeds to determine if a tire was loosing pressure.
With the 2007 MINIs, the TPM is in the trip computer. You have to navigate to the TPM icon and reset it by pushing in the stalk selector button. I am presuming that the system still measuires pressure using wheel rotation. If it doesn't, then installing aftermarket wheels and tires would prevent the system from functioning properly.
It sounds like your system is working correctly assuming you have a 2006 or older MINI.
