EBC's Suck! Best pad low dust??

I have the EBC rotor and pad combo, the pads are great because there is no mess or dust but they can't even stop a skateboard. One of my pet pives its brake dust, but I also love drive hard daily. What pads should I get next....? Hawk, Axxis or....?
Thanks
M

That bad huh? Were you using the green pads or reds? Reds would probably bite more, but need more time to get up to temps. I've had greens (with slotted OEM rotors) before on another car (Saab Viggen) and they had great bite...with very low dust as you observed as well. Good luck on your next set.

I have hawk street perf. on my audi - quite low dust, good performance, but they are prone to squeal a little. Went with the Hawk ceramic pads on the mini - very low dust, no noise.

EBC green pads are for street use. They dust less than stock but not zero.

EBC red pads are for track not street.

Track pads usually dust more

Mintex red pads are cheap and dust less than stock and work for street use.

I couldn't be happier with the Mintex reds. They stand up to a hard drive down a canyon and my wheels only get dirty from road dirt, not brake dust.

And, I paid $60 for a whole set off ebay.
I haven't seen them on there lately, but check around and you'll get a good price around that.

Mario I am real happy with my Ferodo 2500s. Dustier than the EBC's of course and a TINY squeel at times but stop REAL well. I didnt want a noisy , dirty race pad either but these are not that bad for the performance increase they offer . I got mine from Way Motors.

I really like the Axxis pads. They don't dust quite as bad as the EBC's and they stop a whole helluva lot better. Hey Mario...If the EBC's aren't dusting...your not on the brakes hard enough... BTW, the Axxis pads held up like a champ when I set my brake on fire....LOL

It looks like I will go with Hawk's. If I had more money I would get the Willwood 13" kit. Maybe I will call Willwood tomorrow because maybe I can make a deal with them since they are my customer.
thanks guys.

I installed EBC Greens on the front on the original rotors. (Before you start, I am cheap, and the rotors were still well within spec and not warped.)

DON'T LET ANYBODY FOOL YOU; these things dust just like the OEM pads and to boot they squeal when applying brakes. I am miserable with them, squealling and still washing wheels twice a week!!!!

$80 for front set and $70 for rear.

I got them based on testemonies and write from minicarparts.net:

EBC V4 Greenstuff Triple-Award-Winning Pads provide higher thermal conductivity that virtually eliminates brake judder, with better cold braking for shorter stops and less fade and better wear for longer life. These 2000 series pads are designed for premium street driving offering better brake effect at loads and speed. EBC Greenstuff has a high initial brake effect and gives drivers confidence from first application of the brake pedal. These pads create less dust and greenstuff dust is more easily washed off than that of most other pads.
Performance Advantage!

EBC V4 Greenstuff Pads:
• 2000 series pads are specifically made for premium street use.
• Excellent in cold and hot conditions effective to above 1,200° F!
• Low dust formula.
ITS ALL HOGWASH/SNAKEOIL!!!
I don't know about the Hawks,
but EBC is THUMBS DOWN in my book...

They have about 3k on them now. They do dust very little but they don't stop. Thinking about a big brake it.

You may have glazed them. I've used several sets on two different cars, and they worked just fine for street use and autocross. I wouldn't seriously track them unless your car is really light, as that isn't really what they were designed for and they'll get too hot. Reds or some other pad would be better on the track, but wouldn't work as well cold on the street.

If you don't like lots of brake dust stick with plain rotors, not drilled or slotted.

Having said that, I currently have the Porterfield R4S, and they are doing great. Very minimal dust (much less than stock) and good stopping power once they warm up just a touch. The EBC Greenstuff had better bite when really cold.

i got a f/r set of hawk HPS from minibrakes. Best prices and quick shipping. I used them at a track event at PIR and they did great, my oem brake fluid on the other hand...

Daily driving i can't really tell if they are better than stock, mine squeal a tiny bit sometimes at parking lot speeds, but i think i didnt put the brake quiet grease on properly.

Another vote for Hawk. I had the HPS pads on my MC and they were much, much better than stock. Less dust, too.

My green EBC pads are just great for my Cooper, but I love my Hawk HPS pads on my MCS! Both DO dust some, but nowhere near the OEMs...and both stop each car a lot faster than the OEMs, too.

I had Ferodo DS 2500 pads on the MCS for about a thousand miles before taking them off for the Hawks. They drove me crazy with their squealing and heavy dusting.

I had the same experience with the EBC greens on my RX7. I just switched to Axxis Ultimates and really like them. Doesn't dust as badly and braking power is good and price is much better than the Hawks. I even used them for a day on track but they aren't up to the task of hauling down the speeds the RX7 gets to.

I used the Porterfields R4E on track on the rX7 and they're good. Haven't tried their street pad though.
