Spare Tire Question

Can I use a Saturn SL2 wheel for a spare tire for my MCS? The specs are:

15 inch X 6 inch wheel, 50 mm offset.

Thanks!

Not sure, but I think the offset might be the killer.

Among other considerations, the bolt pattern needs to be 4x100.

also, worry about the hub bore, you might need to use a hub ring with it, although depending on the design of the wheel, that might not even work. If the hub bore is too big, it will wobble. I suppose this isn't the biggest deal, considering it would be for temporary use anyways, but you'd really need to watch your speed to be safe.

Saturns have a 57.1 mm bore 1 mm larger than MINI.

Is that bad? I mm of slop doesn't sound so bad. Should I try it?

1mm is enough to call it not concentric (1mm off is significant). However, if you drive carefully and slowly, and don't drive a long ways on the spare (you should do all these things anyways) you should be fine.

Yes the wheel is not hub centric to the MINI hub. I'd have to say if it bolts on & clears the brakes go ahead & use it. Temp spares are only to be driven on slowly & for short distances anyway.

Didn't someone write about a Chevy Cobalt spare working for the MINI?

Hi folks,
Just another point of reference on this: I bought a used space saver spare from a Saturn SL2 and it bolted on the Mini just fine.

Chevy Cobalt and Mazda Miata are said to be a fit-check your local listings before purchase.
