Time to ditch x-lites and run flats..

Ok, looking for thoughts, suggestions, wisdom, etc. I've pretty much narrowed it down to two wheels.

Black 17in TDR Pro Race 1's or OZ Ultraleggeras. TDR is in the lead for the obvious benefit of saving over 300 bucks. I've also thought about the 1.2's in the 17x7.5, really just so I could try some GY Eagle F1 GS-D3s since they don't come in 205/4x/17, but do come in 215/40/17 and I've seen lots of great reviews on em. Anyone know of any issues with going with a wider 7.5 rim? Or BBK fit problems with the TDRs in general? And what's the difference between the 1s and 1.2s anyways, just the size offerings?

Then there are tires. Assuming the 7.5 wheel isn't a good fit I'm looking at Kumho Ecsta SPT's or Yoko Parada Spec-2's, but open to other suggestions. Kinda leaning towards the Kumhos for a little more security in the rain.

Also any one know of a reputable online TDR vendor that does tires too? just to save some shipping costs and get em pre mounted and balanced?

I drive "spirited" daily and track 3-4 times a yr.

Things to consider and improve over stock
1. Expense management
2. Grip
3. Good turn in, dont' want flexy or mushy sidewalls under hard corning.
4. save a little weight
5. Future mods, BBK options
6. Road noise
7. Ride Comfort

Can’t help a lot but I have been running my 05 MC on 16x7.5” Borbert wheels and 205/50 F1 tires. It is a good setup. The extra width of the rims helps stabilize the tire sidewalls. The F1 are great tires, on the street and for stock class autocross. But I think that I like the Bridgestone Protenza Re050 a little better. The handling felt a little more precise.

Pro Race 1 are supposed to have some of the best BBK clearance on the market. The goodyears do have good grip, outstanding in the wet. But you will diffenately notice a reduction in sidewall stiffness compared to your runflats. i know i did, i run at a higher psi than runflats to try and offset that 38street 42autoX. they are a bit expensive though, so i am looking at hankook ventus rs2 z212 for next time around. although they should last longer with a 280 treadwear compared to a 200 for the hankooks. i know you can't directly compare those numbers cross brand but you can get an idea. as for road noise and comfort the goodyears are pretty good, no complaints from me esp compared to runflats

215 could fit on a 7" wide wheel, pro race 2 do have good BBK clearance as well but not quite as good as the pr1

let me know if you have more that you want to know about, i tried to quickly hit the high points

also the goodyears are reasonably light, not a record setter though, i have them in 205/45R16 and i think they are 20-21lbs, on 13lb wheels

ok so 215 can fit a 7" wheel, am I making some kind of compromise not using the 205 recommended for 7" wheel?

Definitely considering the Hankooks.

yeah 215 is fine on a 7" wheel there are lots of people that use the 215/45R16 falken rt-615 at autoX that i have seen. usually the tire specs will say what rim width they work on. like the 5th column on this page on falken's site http://www.falkentire.com/rt615_sizes.html
