Show me your ORANGE WHEELS!!!

I'm thinking about this set up. I think its a "love it or hate it". What do you guys think ? I have the same car color (Hyper Blue). They look like Kosei K1s.

I'm SO glad you posted this! I've been searching the 'net all week for orange wheels for my HO MCCa! Please, please, please let me know where I can get a set like this? If anyone else has ideas, I'd love to hear from you, too!

The car belongs to Will at M7, so shoot him a message. I believe the wheels were custom painted.

Yeah they are Will's. He has been tight-lipped about giving out more infor on them so I decided to make his wheels public!!!

I think you can get them at Tirerack.com for $200 a piece.

Those wheels are custom powdercoated.

As someone who has custom wheels, I will say this. The great thing about taking the time to have something like this done is that they are custom... they are different. It's really nice to have something that is one of a kind. Do wheels in any color you want, but make it your own. I've had people ask me for the full specs of my wheels and how to get ones EXACTLY like them and it's not like it's a secret what kind they are.... but why not pick another style and have something similar done to them? Pick a wheels that really does it for you instead of something that has already been done. That way you both have something really original and unique.

There are countless styles of wheels out there and any of them can be painted or powdercoated.

Yeah I feel ya on the custom angle on things. I overlooked the powdercoating part on the thread where I found Will's pic. I searched the net for ANY other orange style wheels and came up empty except for the Koseis. If I had my choice I would choose another style wheel. Maybe I will and then powdercoat it.

So, Jenn, what are you driving these days? And when do we get to set it with some stylin' wheels on it?

Possible Misunderstanding...

I didn't mean to imply that I wanted to get the very same wheels for my car , I was just wondering where on earth someone found orange wheels. After searching quite diligently this week, I haven't found much of anything online.

I agree that owning a uniquely customized car is a great thrill. I'd like something original, which is why I've been searching for orange wheels to replace my dingy ole stock ones. I didn't think a painted wheel would turn out looking so beautiful, so it wasn't an option I'd actively explored. Until now!

Thanks for the tips! I'll be sure to check out powder coating options next!

Yep, you can paint or powdercoat just about anything. Both will look fabulous if done right. There are endless possibilities on colors.

Best thing to do it pick a wheel style that you really like and then make it your own.

You can even paint or powdercoat your stock wheels if you like then and want to go the cheapest route. We have a set of pearl white S-lites at the house that go to the track.

BTW, the factory orange on the Kosei's is chalkier... flat. Kinda funny looking if you ask me.

I'm driving the car in my sig. Mazdaspeed MX-5 (turbo) 1 of 413 made in my color. The modding has started. My red and black wheels are on but I may change that soon and she should be up to about 220-240 rwhp in a few months.

Hey jenn

Just wondering....how much did it cost you to get your rotas powdercoated? I've got a set of 2 piece wheels that need powdercoating and just want to know what to expect.

Mine are painted because I couldn't find a powdercoating place that would do two colors on one wheel.... and I probably called 20 places. Most said "not possible" and the rest said they didn't think it would turn out good. It was not cheap. Painting at a good shop can easily be $100+ a wheel.

Of course with a two piece, you can just take them apart if you want to to two colors but my Rota's are one piece.

The prices for powdercoating vary with the type of finish you want. You can do flat one stage or the most interesting 2 or more stage finishes. The normal quote I got for a one stage was about $40 per wheel. The only thing that would make it more is if they needed to do a lot of prep work.

The Koseis look like they've been sprayed with flourescent orange road marking paint.

Cool!! I thought it was a Miata, but the Mazdaspeed version is even more fun. I bet it's a blast. Please tell me you've lowered it. The new MX-5s sit WAAAAY high.... kinda like the R56 MINIs. I'd love to see one of the Miatas dropped over a set of tires and wheels that would really fill those flared wheel arches.
