ASA A1 info...

Looking to upgrade MC wheels and like the ASA A1's (for a less pricey option than R99's) and was wondering if anyone who is running these can answer the following:
-do the rims mount flush with tires, that is, do the stick out more than stock rims where as they might easily get dinged while parking by scrapping the curb?
-are most of you running non-runflats with them?
-what does "offset" refer to when buying wheels(sorry if this is dumb one)
-any favorite tire choice, thinking of 17's , MC has stock 16 R83 on it now.
Thanks!

The run flats that I previously had mounted on my ASA's had the protective lip on the tire as do the non-runflats I have now so the rim is protected from mild curbing.

If you go with a 215 instead of a 205 you will also notice just a hair more cushion and rim protection. But as stated before, this is just mild.

The ASA AR1s are 42mm offset which does lie in safe area. Lowering and a wider tread tyre may cause a little light rubbing though. But if you went with a 215/45 R17 with normal heighth, you should be fine, and have that little bit of cush you are looking for.

try the MINI2.com web site. Go to the FAQ page where they have excellent information and pictures well organized. You will find a Cooper with ASA AR1's

What is the deal with buying after market wheels and using or not using run flats. Would they be compatible with the system on the 2007 Cooper S Cabrio using the runflats or not? I want to get snows and new rims. Thanks for your help.
