You are right! I managed to hit a pothole such that the 45 series tire wasn't even marked up, but my $600.00 forged BBS wheel was relegated to a table top. Stock wheel size, stock tire size...oh well!

No, no, no, no... offset is the difference between the wheel centerline and that hub-mounting surface. + if the mounting surface is closer to the outside of the wheel and - if it's closer to the inside.

If I'm not mistaken, backspacing is the distance from the mounting surface to the inside of the wheel.

you're right on both accounts

Offset: Centerline (width/2) ---> Hub mounting surface

Backspacing: Back edge of wheel ---> Hub mounting surface.

I'm sure meb knows that and just mis-spoke

Yup! I'm old!!! I was merely trying to establish direction - inside or outside. I should have just written it that way. Sorry!
