Eagle F1 GS-D3 or BFG g-Force T/A KDW2
Hi. Im obsessed with replacing my oem run-flats. I currently have 17" webspokes. But, I would like to replace them with 18" JCW R105s in silver. I would like to get Eagle F1 GS-D3s for the R105's but they dont make a size that fits on that rim. I'm trying to stick with Mini rims and not other manufacturers....
So, bottom line is Im trying to choose between
1. 18" R105 with BFG g-Force T/A KDW2, 215/40/18
or
2. keep my 17" R98 webspokes but put Eagle F-1 GS-D3, 215/45/17 on them.
Any suggestions or opinions about which one to go with? Or any other suggestions I might not have thought of?
I tend to be a spirited driver and although I havent been to the track yet, I do plan to in the future.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I have the Gsd3's and am pretty happy with them. They are absolutley unbelievable in the wet! In the dry they are good, but make alot of noise around really hard cornering (squeal). When new to newer they were very nice riding on the road and quiet in a straight line. I was blown away by how much more compliant, comfortable and quiet they were after ditching the RF's.
The wear on them has been pretty good IMO. I was actually starting to be really impressed with the wear... almost 12-15k and still looking new. Then a couple days at laguna seca took care of all that real quick!!! But I do believe without the track days they would of worn along time under spirited cornering driving.... Suddenly I am back into obsessing over what tires I want now again!..
I do think that I want to try something else, but only to "try something else". Maybe something a little more track oriented, but not R compound... I really dont know what I want yet??? I heard the Yoko prada 2's were kinda cool..
I would definetly recommend the GSD3's.. They have been awesome tires. If you drive in the wet often, which you might in VA... There are non better! Honestly when the roads were wet I could corner with about as much grip as if it were dry... To bad it doesnt rain much in southen Ca...
Good luck let us know what you try, and let me know if you have any suggestions for me...
I dont know much first hand about the KDW's sorry...

1. 18" R105 with BFG g-Force T/A KDW2, 215/40/18

1. R105 is 18x7" and weighs a heavy 23.3 lbs. KDW2 is OK in 215/40-18, good handling. Not very comfortable for street driving esp if you have lowered suspension.
2. Stock rims are heavy 22.3 lbs each. GS-D3 comes in many sizes but 215/45-17 is OK. Slightly taller than stock. No extra cost for keeping rims.
3. Invest in lightweight aftermarket rims of your choice. Now you are free to pick and choose any tire size that fits the rims and is about 24.4" outer tire diameter. 17x7 rims can be as light as about 13-14 pounds without being that expensive.
4. Stock R98 17x7 rim with GS-D3 in 215/40-17. Better handling lower sidewall but less comfortable ride and higher cost. And many other tire sizes are possible: 205/40-17, 205/50-17, 225/45-17. Tire diam varies from 23.4 to 25.1" which are all usable if you have stock suspension.
5. Stock R105 18x7 rim but GS-D3 in wider tire size like 225/35-18 or 225/40-18. Tire diam are 24.2 and 25.1" respectively. Rim size is from 7.5-9" wide but 7" rim will work. 40 series tire might be a little more comfortable.
6. Stock rim of your choice and a different tire. Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R in 225/45-17 or 225/40-18.
7. Lightweight aftermarket 16x7" rim and Potenza RE-01R in 205/45-16 (21 lbs), 205/55-16 or 225/50-16.
8. Lightweight aftermarket 15x7" rim (about 10-12 lbs) with Potenza RE-01R in 195/50-15.
Lightest RE-01R at 21 lbs, small tire diam of 22.7". Low load rating of 82 but still drivable.
9. R105 with KDW2 also available in 215/35-18, 225/35-18, and 225/40-18.
10. Pick a rim, pick a tire. Pick a budget. Pick handling vs treadwear and comfort.
