i think the guy just bought a set from himself, put some faux bbs caps
on it and showing it off to people that he got 'em LM's. lol
probably better getting the faux R90's and putting MINI caps on it.
r90 replica were quality piece..
and they seemed to lower the price on ebay..
i would jump on a set (the R90) but i already have similar style rims (bbs) so nay..
I can not provide further details (due to vendor guidelines). JT MINI said the moderators removed his permission to post and send PMs thats why you haven't heard from him and reason first page of this thread was deleted.
In any event, JT MINI has the LMs on his MINI now, looks AWESOME!!
Just wanted to clear that up For some reason, it seemed like the person you had to contact to purchase them, was banned/unable for you to communicate with...
Will this deal be available for some time, or for a limited time only?

I'm sorry, I can not answer your questions in the forum.
JT MINI is not banned from NAM. The mods removed his permission to communicate (due to not following group buy guidelines), so JT MINI has "read only" permission.
my guess is that a better quality pic of the "polished" lip would give it away in a second.
I totally agree, replicas are replicas BUT at the same time $750 is better than $4000.00, especially a car that depreciates in value.
Yes, you can tell the difference if they are compared side by side, but honestly, you have to look really close. I think the quality of paint is the only flaw. The real BBS LM has finer/smoother metallic paint.

I would venture to guess that another flaw is that the lip isnt actually polised, i would assume its just machined like most cheaper wheels are. The BBS have a beautiful polished lip which does wonders for the looks.
Maybe it's just me, but i DO look up close at wheels.
What would lit take to polish it? Can machined lips be polished? Are they clear coated?
Depends on if it's two piece or not....I dont know if the replicas are two-piece like the LMs are
Machined lips are polished....as are polished lips.
If it's one-piece, it would be hard because if you removed the cleacoat on the lips only (in order to polish) the edge of the clearcoat on the center may chip. You may have to strip it all, paint/powdercoat the centers and then polish the lip....then do one even clearcoat over the entire wheel.
Polishing would involve removing the clearcoat and then going at it as you would polishing a whole wheel....most people use a drill or high-powered dremel with polishing pads etc. You can find good website DIY instructions all over the place.
The reflections off a truly polished lip are just unbelievable. I went from wheels with machined "polished" lips to trul polished lips....and the change is very noticeable.
