Is there a good one to get?. Can you do a permanent repair after. I already have a compressor
Thanks Tim

Go to a good tire shop and have them do a perm patch from the inside.

Great idea if the tire shop is on the side of the road when you get the flat.

I've used the MonkeyGrip kit before (fortunately, not in a long while!) They held fine. Yes, after using said kit, you can go in and get a proper patch. They either pull the plug out, or cut it off flush.

^ Thats basically what I have in my boot. Just the cheapy local auto parts store plug kit. Works fine - used three or so times in the last 4 years.

i recently repaired 2 runflat tires with those. holding air very well.
im not sure if you want to use that as a permanent fix, but on runflats
i guess you have the runflat backup just in case the plug fails.

I've been using the simple plug kits as described in post # 3 for
decades (more than a dozen plugs over the years) and have never
had one fail.

^^ that's wat ive been thinking too. as long as it is not
on performance rated tires and does not see much high performance
driving im sure those plugs will fix most people's tires.

^^ I have only max performance tires and winter tires.
I'm not tracking or autoXing the car, but I don't take it
easy on the twisties, either.

Plugged Bridgestone PP S-03 tires* have held up very well under
driving aggressive enough to trash the front control arm
bushings in less than 32,000 miles. So do all-season and snow tires.

I don't think I'd depend on them on a race track, however.

* as well as Bridgestone RE-71's, Yoko AVS-I's, Pirelli P600's, BFG Comp T/A's, etc. in the past.
