Why not just get some really good rubber and save some extra cash? New wheels for a cooper are cool, but expensive and really can have an adverse effect on performance depending upon what you choose. ..

What do you mean by really good rubber? I am getting the Eagle F-1's GS-D3....isn't that considered good rubbber?

Also, I was assuming that since Mini-Madness used the LE37T on their project cars, that it would be good for me...however that is probably an erroneous assumption since they probably have an entirely different suspension set up from mine...

I agree. If you can afford them, get them. You won't be happy with 2% milk once you tasted cream

Life's too short. There is no guarantee that you will be around to retire. If you want the wheels and can afford the price, then get them. If this will put you in debt, then hold off until you have the money to pay for them.

True - life is too short BUT what if you live past 80 yrs. of age and need that $2500 for medical bills.

IMO - Drive your car as is. Car is not an investment.

I used to oversee couple of high tech execs. personal accounts. One client which I become friend with, his networth is over $400million, now, he is probably close to $600million. He is 38 yrs. of age, married, no kids. He drives a 2004 Honda Accord (his personal car), and his wife drives a Chevy Tahoe. However he has two homes which are 30 miles from each other, a $15million home in Atherton, CA (next door to CEO of Google) and $5million dollar home in SF - I guess he had to make an investment decision, $2500 wheels for his honda or invest in million dollar homes.

And I asked him, do you plan to buy a luxury or sports car? This is what he said, "when you are wealthy, you do not want to draw anymore attention from the public. So I'm very happy driving a Honda and I can always borrow my neighbors Lamborghini if I feel like a rock star."

@ sandtoast - the white ones are the Volks.

@ redskunk - you don't have to read the label to know what wheels they are. I find myself naming wheels every day while the car is moving or even from the distance. simply knowing about wheels is enough to tell them apart... i mod my car for my own personal satisfaction/enjoyment, not so much the enjoyment someone else gets from looking at it...

I agonized over buying new wheels too. Finally sprang for OZ Forgiata. They were not cheap, even on sale. Well worth it. They look good and are quite light for 17" wheels (Just over 13lbs.) I kept the S-Lites for Snow Tires. A good decison on both counts. Phil is much happer with full blown run-flat snow tyres in the winter, and likes his summer shoes too!.

Now I find that I need another set of wheels to put on for autocross. I do not want to keep burning up the tyres that my wife uses daily.

BTW, I am running the Goodyear F1 GS D3 in a 215 40 17. They are pretty good! Quite, and good on wet pavement!

You need to look at this objectively

Instant gratification vs delayed gratification

You know the answer

You got it Wake. I couldn't find anyone with the Rotas with stickers. Kinda obvious.

I would like to see a tuner style MINI with all the premium stuff, then an exact replica of that MINI with all replica stuff. I'll bet it would be an interesting comparison. Color, wheels, brakes, CF accessories, etc.

The color itself gave it away lol.. No Rota Grid's in white...

Yeah I bet most would be hard-pressed to tell them apart.

center caps are obvious as well. Volks have a distinct one while Rota's don't come with them. Not that center caps matter much.

Damn, I stand corrected. I thought the Grid's didn't come in white. Oh well.. In all honesty, theres nothing wrong with the less expensive wheels, I may be getting some myself in the near future as I can't afford to spend a lot of money on wheels. But, $2,500 for a complete wheel/tire setup isn't bad at all...
