Crappy Edge Racing wheels

I bought Flik FTD's from Edge a week and a half ago. When they came in on Monday, I opened them and inspected them. At the time, they showed no damage and the paint was good. As of today, the paint is taking on an almost sandblasted look on the inner parts of the spoke and the wheel mount flange. Now, I know I only paid 100 bucks each and I get what I paid for but still. When you spend $870 with a company, the wheels shouldn't look like silver or titanium colored wheels that have been painted with spray paint. I'm emailing them pictures tomorrow and going to wait for an answer. Anyone else seen this?

Well in that case, I'm going to send them about 20,000 words tomorrow. I'd do it today except for the small hurricane blowing through PA right now. I'll try to post them on here, too.

It's not so much Edge as Flik. Their wheels are cool looking and cheap, but deteriorate quickly (esp. the clear-coated metal rim that the Fuels have).

I can show you what my Fuels looked like the first time I sent them back. Edge was great in exchanging them under warranty. Maybe Hemihead should try that? I really need to do that with the replacement set. They're worse than the first set, I just don't have pictures. They're only 9 mo. old and I made sure they were well Zaino'd and everything trying to prevent this from happening again. I just don't have a spare set of wheels like I did last time for the period of time it took to send off the crappy rims to Miami and back.

I must be lucky here in California because I've got Flik Fuels in 15" and Flik Bullets in 17" and they are perfect. I've had my Fuels for about 1 year now, and my Bullets for about 9 months. As for the Flik emblem, I hated that from day one and covered it in black & silver vinyl that I cut myself.

I paid $75/wheel about 2 months apart for each set--best bang for the buck and no issues.

I'm going to try to post them later today. I couldn't last night because it rained like all Hell here in PA. And, I had to work this morning. Also, Those who've dealt with Edge, what are the options they give you as far as a warranty return? Do you get the same wheels back or do I possibly have the option to use that credit toward a different set?

Sometimes, you pay twice what you get. Like when one company re-badges another's product, and sells it as an "exclusive."

Yeah, I know. But when you make $10 an hour, you look for a good deal. And, a bunch of people told me to check out Edge. Looks like I should have just stuck with OutMotoring like I was going to do. But, I'm not blaming anyone but myself.

Funny thing is I went with Edge because of all the bad publicity I was reading on NAM. Call me a rebel. Balancing issues with Flik Wasps, paint problems, etc.. Unfortunately trying to save a buck has it's risks--and I dove in head first knowing them--fortunately I came out lucky--so far. Sorry to hear about the problems you had.

Thanks. I really haven't had any problems other than the paint, too. They were cool on the phone. No problems there. The person just said e-mail me some pictures, which I need to do today. The dude I asked about center caps was kind of a douche but retail does that to a person.

fuhget about it...

what you describe is exactly how my flik FTDs looked. the inside of the spokes and the inside of those holes in between the lug hole have what look like overspray, like they missed that part. underneath the paint they look like aluminum. and they ARE painted. the paint started coming off when i used carb cleaner on the insides of the spokes to put sticky wieghts on them when i balanced them. but hey, they were $74 a piece (when i bought them), big deal... and they look great unless you get about a foot away. if i had paid more i might be upset, but i always get compliments on how my mini looks.

They are Flik wheels....what more did you expect Flik is known for poor quality paint that chips and shows wear instantly.

Yes, I've heard poor things about the fliks. I bought "the other crappy $100 wheels" that Edge Racing offers, and have been content for the price. The paint is still pristine after 10k miles, except where I fugged it up myself.

cheap wheels tend to have cheap paint. i once made the mistake of
buying some cheepass Sokudo's (ADR) from a local store for my old
beater car (was a brand new protege5).

looked great at the beginning, but had paint chips all over in about 3
months. some other local bought it off me for 1/2 the price since he
said he wont mind getting them powder coated.

it was just bogus. i hate cheap paint and cheap wheels for that matter.
the only cheap wheels i would consider is TR's SportEditions. they were
pretty well built and had durable OE quality paint.

They are 10/10 wheels. They look b1tch1in' from 10 feet away, maybe even 5, or at 10 mph, but when you really get close, they look as cheap as they are. I'm going to see what Edge says. Today, I'll finally get around to taking some pics with Derek86 and try to post them. If Edge sends me another set, fine as long as they look better. I really wanna gun for just my money back.
