Decisions, Decisions- Wheels

While waiting on my mini to make it across the pond. I'm having trouble deciding between a couple of things. :impatient

1. Momo fxl or OZ tribe wheels (deep lip) or last resort breyton flame blk
2. Run flats or not
3. 17" or 18"
(Want to have wheels at dealer when car comes in, incase of trade-in)

Any info on trading in your factory rims and buying thru mini (tirerack) @ discounted price or (bs) would be appreciated.

Thanks 4 help.

Car info: LzB/Blk, wht signals, blk tint,

We're talking astetics. The only vote that counts is yours. On rim size, the bigger they are, the harder they ride.
Good luck with your call, hope the wait isn't overlong.

best bet on the stock rims is to put them up on here or ebay.

I have noticed at our local dealer they seem to know lots of people selling and will act as a go between but do not buy the wheels back.

if you are lucky they may give you a trade in value but i would think only if you are upgrading wheels sold by them.

Someone else might know more on the subject.

my 2 cents: non runflats, I'll let you know about my 18s(en route), wheel choice is your own with lighter being better. ymmv

Are you doing this for looks or for handling? There seems to be a consensus that lighter smaller wheels are better for handling. The larger wheels are purely for looks. As was said, 18" will have a harsher ride than 17".

I have 17" and if I had it to do over would probably go for 16x7.

Non-runflats will have a softer ride than runflats, and possibly handle better -- depending on the tire.

Thread moved to Tires and Wheels forum.

1. You can pick any rims that fit and have correct offset. Watch the weights and keep them under 20 pounds if you can. Wheels are largely aesthetic.
2. Non runflats will give you the best ride and handling. Runflats are for safety and not having to change a flat in traffic or in bad weather in the middle of the night. Your choice.
3. 17" would go with 215/45-17 or 205/45-17 while 18" rim usually go with 215/35-18 or similar which has a much stiffer sidewall and harsher ride potentially. The tires you pick will make a difference. If you have alot of potholes on roads in your area the 17" or even 16" wheels would be a better choice.

It's best to sell your rims on your own, ebay or via local car club is good. The dealership will not give you much allowance on wheels. Find someone that wants the newer wheels or runflats.
