In search of Sportmax feedback
I'm considering a set of 16x7 Sportmax 503s because the weight seems attractive for general, spirited highway motoring (16 lbs), they're within my price threshold, and I think they'd look pretty good on a PW/B. However, I can't seem to locate any testimonials from current or previous owners of Sportmax wheels. Nothing specific in the NAM history. Even the factory website is short on specs and supplemental information.
Can anyone help out here? Are there any red flags I should look out for with this line of wheels? I intend to mate these with some decent AS 205/50-16s. Some of the other black background wheel designs from Sportmax are downright atrocious (the 001s make me gag), but these 503s seem to have the right balance of all attributes. That said, I don't want something that is going to go out-of-round at the first pothole...

Hi there,
I was going to buy those wheels, so I went directly to Edgereacing to see them, but I didn't like them at all. They look smaller.
Check the Raze R74 (gun Metal), or the Flik Wasp (gunmetal). I won't worry about weight if you're not going to race. But this is just my opinion, eventhough those Sportmax are nice wheels! Be sure to get 205/45/17 tires... I just got 215/45/17 and it seems to be having issues with the computer... Nothing serious. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=107502

Just to make clear......you are not having computer problems because of the tires. You have a discrepancy in the mileage being shown by the OBC. Tires will have no effect on the function of the OBC.
I have a buddy that got those wheels put on his car and they seem to have held up nice over the last year or so.

I've run the 002s (? The 8-spoke with the polished lip and fake bolt things) for about 10,000 miles with no issues. Paint is quality, only two small nicks so far (one my own doing). Half a dozen or so autocrosses and very poor roads, no problems yet.
Did have a little rubbing, has since stopped (lowered 1", +38 offset on 16" wheels)
