Winter wheels from 05 Cooper to 08 Cooper S
Ok, a little odd of a request - can I purchase snow wheels (15" or 16"?) for my 05 Cooper and then transfer them to a 08 Cooper S when we eventually upgrade?
Any suggestions on wheels to get? I just want to be able to reuse my investment for years to come.
Thanks,
Michael

Short answer -yes but
If you are buying aftermarket wheels then purchase them for
a 2007 MCS to match the fitment of a 2008 MCS. The wheels and tires will still fit your 2005 MC.
Reason is (at least for tirerack) you can't buy anything for a 2008 MINI yet so 2007 is as close to fitment as you can try for.
The bolt size on the 2005 MC is 12mm and the bolt size for the 2008 MCS is likely 14mm which is the same as the 2007 MCS.
So if you buy wheels for your current 2005 MC and it fits the larger diameter bolts then it will fit the 2007-2008 MCS but if you buy it for the 2005 MINI you will get wheels that fit 12mm bolts (maybe or maybe not limited to that size).
MINI wheels for the 2005 model will not fit the 2008 MINIs.
When looking for winter wheels at tirerack select 2007 MCS and you get-

O.Z. Ultraleggera $185 Matte Silver 15x7"
Motegi Track Traklite

15x7" $232 each Flat Black or Anthracite with Machined lip
Motegi Track Traklite 2.0
15x7" $232 each Flat Black or Silver with Machined lip
