ecsta SPT vs AST

the AST is 68/tire
the SPT is 93/tire

the SPT looks to have better ratings on everything, as far as dry traction, treadwear, etc goes.

is the SPT worth the extra money?

One is all season, and the other is high performance. Where do you live, and will your Mini be encountering any snow? How aggressive do you drive, and do you do any track events?

If you need some light snow capability, then the AST is the better choice. If you don't really ever come close to the cornering limits of the car, then you won't notice the lower adhesion limits of the AST.

But if you really enjoy throwing the car around curves and will appreciate the better stickiness of the SPT and won't ever have your Mini in below 40 degree temperatures, then yes, it's probably worth the extra money.

i dont drive "agressive", but i dont drive like a grandma either
i dont do any track events, its just my daily driver, but i like takin corners pretty fast

i do take curves fast, and its always hot in florida, so i guess the SPT is for me!

overall, as you can tell, im looking for some decent tires to replace my bald runflats, that are about to pop. i think i will get the SPT's. the SPTs should do as good in the rain as the ASTs right?

how about these nitto NT NeoGen ZR vs the kumho SPTs?

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/findTireDetail.do?cf=false&sw=false&cs=215&pc=4021 7&rd=17&ar=45

think im good with 215/45/17s instead of 205s (stock rims)?

SPTs are a good overall, cheap summer tire. Bonus points because they are quiet!

I really do not care for my SPT's. I'm trying to get rid of them, they have about 300 miles on them, thats it. If you want them, I'd gladly sell them to you for cheap. But to be honest, I don't like them at all! I made a post a few threads down about them.

ok ive narrowed it down to:

-nitto NT neogen ZR - 95 each (z rated)
-kumho asx - 98 each (z rated)
-yokohama AVID H4S - 105 each (h rated)

what im looking for basically is:

-decent ride (compared to stock runflats)
-GOOD treadlife
-GOOD handling for street driving, i dont do autox or anything, so thats not a big deal.

are the Yokohama's gonna have a bad ride since theyre H rated (stiffer/harder)?

but then on the flip side, they would prally last longer than the nitto/kuhmo Z rated ones right, which would also ride better, but ive heard those Z rated tired you can feel on sharp fast turns....

i cant decide :(
