OOOOPs!

Typo error

205/55-15 is correct not 205/55-16 although that is a good size for 16" rims for the MINI albeit a bit tall at 24.9".

My original post will be corrected.

205/60-15 fits rims 5.5-7.5" wide, perfect for 6" wide rim, 24.5" tire diameter which is only a little taller than stock.

Overall it could work with stock suspension or slightly lowered MINIs.
Has a tall sidewall at 60 series but that would help comfort. Not as good for handling if you prefer that.

In that size there are some good winter tires.
In UHP Summer tires-
BF Goodrich g-Force Sport and
Yokohama AVS ES100 only

In UHP All Season tires-
Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS
Kumho Ecsta ASX

In HP All Season tires-
A bunch including
Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S
Bridgestone Potenza G 009
BF Goodrich Traction T/A H
Yokohama AVID H4S
Fuzion HRi
Sumitomo HTR H4

In Grand Touring All Season tires (some as tall as 24.7")
A bunch including
Goodyear Eagle ResponsEdge
Kumho Solus KH16
Bridgestone Turanza LS-H
Continental ContiProContact
Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus

I have run 205/50-15 on the street and it's fine for me but the wheel gap is large unless you adjust down to the 23" tire diameter but then if you do that then a tall tire like 215/45-17 which I also use won't fit.

Since 215/45-17 is my tallest tire at 24.7" I set ride height for that tire and run the smaller tires as is.

If 205/55-15 for dry summer weather and 15x7 rim then

In UHP Summer tires
Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2
Bridgestone Potenza RE750
BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW2
BF Goodrich g-Force Sport

Or for longer treadlife
In UHP All Season tires
Continental ContiExtremeContact
Kumho Ecsta ASX (good value)
Falken Ziex Ze-912

Look at my post - in 205/55-15.

In UHP Summer tires
Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2
Bridgestone Potenza RE750
BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW2
BF Goodrich g-Force Sport

You don't see Kumho Ecsta SPT because it doesn't come in that size.
It does come in 205/50-15 which is only 23.1" tire diameter

Not that hard to figure out. it's measured from the physical symmetric center of the wheel out towards the bolt plate. a 40 offset, or et40, means the bolts are set 40mm towards the outside of the wheel from the center. The offset determins how the wheel is pushed out or tucked in from it's mounting point. Stock for our cars runs from 50mm (considered high) to about 42 (medium). What you can actually run on the car depends on what diameter wheel and tire combo, suspension and how much you're willing to modify the fenders to fit. You can pretty much fit anything with no problem down to about et35, or even et30 with a bit of tire stretch. On the far side of the lower offset, Rally is running 15x8.5 et9 on his rears (there should be a pic in this thread actually.) I'm looking to do 15x8 et35 or et30 with 205/50 or 205/55s when I finally pick out a wheel. Or maybe just do 15x7 et35 with spacers, making the effective offset around 30 or so. It all comes down to what kind of look you want and what you're going to be doing with it.

Minihune hooked you up with some great tire info- give the poor guy a rest and run a search on offset. You'll find a ton.

Offset
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/...jsp?techid=101

OEM wheel offset varies from the diameter of the wheel.
For 15" wheels offset is +45mm
For 17" wheels offset is +48mm
For 18" wheels offset is +52mm

Awesome looking wheels for 15's

When my 17 RF wear out, I will ditch the s lites and look for a 15" rim for a stock suspension and stock brakes.

I want to go wide without trimming, I think sometime next year the tires may need replaced so maybe some new 15 rims 7.5 -8" wide will be available

WIDE and Short Diameter: 205/50 R15
Slightly Wider and Stock Diameter: 195/60 R15

I have run them all. So far my favorite is 195/60 R15, but I'm crazy that way.

REALLY? Why the 195s?

I'm looking for more comfort that the run flats provide...but still be able to wring it out on Mulholland.

Thanks

Our hub bore is 57.1

and an offset of 40 definitely fits....it might not fit if you go with really wide wheels, but most will

The MINI hub is 56.1 mm. With aftermarket wheels, you can expect to use centering rings, unless the wheel is custom made or a special order group buy. It is advantageous for a wheel manufacturer to create a larger bore and use centering rings to allow fitting to a larger variety of cars.

I plan on running 215/45-17's 40offset, how do you adjust the ride height on a stock suspension (MCSCa) or are you talking about after market suspensions?

Has this size SPT been discontinued by Kumho? I have this size SPT on my car and I love them! They perform well and at the same time have ride much better than 17's.
