Anyone Use Leak Lava?

Saw this ad at Cabelas. The stuff, Leak Lava, seems to be different from Slime since you put it in your tire before any leak has occurred. If it works, without significant drawbacks, it seems like it could be a good treatment for non-runflat replacement tires if you don't carry a spare.

Anyone try this stuff (or something similar)? Work as advertised? Drawbacks? Anecdotes?

I have never used this particular product, but the County I work for has used what I believe is a similar product in the heavy equipment tires for quite some time. My only concern would be how does it stand up to the heat.

I agree with you about heat. I also wonder whether it has a limited life as a repair. If you have this stuff will you have to still do a traditional plug repair at a later date or is this it?

Sounds like a good idea. But I'm worried about the stuff (like Slime) throwing the wheel balance off.

Also, it doesn't apply to MINIs but I'm sure the stuff would foul up the tire pressure monitoring sensors that's in a lot of late model cars these days.

Somebody has to have tried Lava Leak or equivalent for a car, motorcycle, ATV . . . somewhere. How about some reviews and experiences?!!

Can't say that I'd trust it for long term.
'prevents rim corrosion'? Sounds like it coats your rim in crap. Personally I have never experienced rim corrosion - certainly not on the inside.

I'd definitely make sure that it could be removed to install a proper patch, but then again if you don't get a flat you'd never know that you need a proper patch.

I'll stick with a plug kit and compressor.

I've used it in ATV tires YEARS ago. Worked well.

I would not suggest using it in highway tires as it could play havoc on the wheel balancing not to mention the pressure sensors as others have mentioned on here. It also adds weight which could contribute to blowouts.

It really is designed, IMO, to be used in low pressure off road tires.
I am sure someone on here has used it in highway tires though, perhaps they could shed more light and correct me if I am wrong.

Um, there aren't actual "pressure" sensors. From what I've read in here, it's a wheel speed differential sensor that activates the low pressure light on the dash.
