JCW carbotech brake pads... available.
Like most jcw brake owners, I've been patiently waiting for a less dusting, non corrosive brake pad alternative to OEM. I have been randomly calling various companies to check on availability. EBC and AXXIS apparently have p/n 's for our brakes, but no product.
I just got off the phone with Carbotech, and apparently, the long awaited backing plates for the front jcw brake pads are in. I placed an order for a set of front and rear in the bobcat compound (street driving only). They claim I will have them in 2 weeks. Fingers crossed. I just hope I didn't get on a waiting list.

If you can replace the rear pads you can replace the front pad. It's just easier.
Remove the two bushings (7mm allen screw).
Take pad holder thing off
Remove the pads
Compress the piston (I have a tool, but you can use a c clamp or really big channel-locks)
Put the new pads in
Put the pad holder thing back on.
Look at the ground and see if you forgot anything.
Double check that you tightened everything.
All done.
The big difference from rears is you don't have to spin the pistons while compressing.
I was just trying carbotech XP9 in front for the track and a friend of mine was trying XP10. I got 4 days. He got 1.5 days and actually welded a backing plate to a piston which ended up resulting in a flat bed ride. He was checking his pads, but the inside wore a lot faster than the outside and he was also really expecting more than 1.5 days.
I've decided that I can't afford carbotech for the track.
I don't know about the bobcats on the street. I have two friends who had 4 wheel offs on the track due to not stopping when they wanted to stop. As far as anyone can tell, it was the pads.
I liked my xp9s while I was driving but the wear is too much.
I was using XP12 on a more powerful car and they wore fast, but not this fast. That car had $750 rotors, so pad wear wasn't my big concern and carbotechs are easy on the rotors. On my mini GP the pads cost more than rotors.

johnmdanski...that is not good news about the xp10's. based on my conversation with ctbrakes, i went with xp10's on my previous 3300 lb fwd car with R compound and was very pleased. i got 2 events on them and they're about 50% worn afterwards. not too bad i thought. much better than the ebc yellow stuff that was the only available track pad option. i would think on a much lighter car like the Mini, it would wear better. i guess we'll see.
thanks.
thanks.
