Rival,
I was in a parade a few weeks ago and these to vehicles were entries....I originally posted on a different site, showing the truck and 8 trailers and then had fun showing the other pics saying that Mini's are huge in comparison to everything else...

I smashed up the piggybank and sprung for some new shoes on Twiggy. Wedsport TC005 gunmetal 17" that Tirerack has on closeout right now.
EDIT: Ooops, forgot to also add the weights...
  • Stock 17" S-Lite from rear with a Pirelli POS RF that had a good amount of tread left = 49.0lbs.
  • Weds TC005 w/ GY F1 GS-D3 215/45-17" = 37.2lbs.
Here's how they look (appologies in advanced for the ever so original parking garage composition)...

Cheers!
I might be biased, but those look great! (I have the exact same setup on my PS/B)

I had to find my old ebay page in order to find out exactly which rims I have. lol.....To date they have worked very well!
(side note: I actually was bidding on a Gun Metal version but after I won the seller told me that he didn't have any Gun Metal so he sent me the Glossy Black rims and I can't complain!)

I don't think there is a set of wheels in the world that could look bad on your car, Dave! Very nice. Props for sticking to the 15s. . .

So, you're at 3 sets now, what's next?!?!?

Yes, I currently have three sets of wheels and four sets have actually been on the car since I purchased it a little less than a year ago.
  • 15" Holies (taken off and sold when I got the car home from the dealer)
  • 15x7 Rewinds (I'll be posting these for sale on NAM soon)
  • 15x7 Slipstreams (autocross)
  • 15x7 RG-F's
What's next, maybe selling the slipstreams in the spring and running street tires again for autocross instead of the V710s.

I really like that the wheels are less expensive compared to larger sizes, the tires are less expensive, the ride is more comfortable, and the performance tire options are great in (205/50 R15)

I am a real newbie here, but don't the 205/50/15's have a really high speedometer error versus the OEM tire sizes for the MINI?

It's on the order of 4-5%. Nothing huge, but if I go that route I'd use them as my autocross tires too, so the extra gearing advantage of smaller tires would be of help, particularly on the cooper where power isn't as plentiful.

I just put some new wheels on teh wife's cabrio...as soon as I can get the white balance figured out on my new camera, I'll post pics. Everything I shoot comes out way out of wack.....the wheels are white and *glow* against the darker blue car. Either that or order up a cloudy day

what I know

I know the 18s are much better looking, but believe it or not, the 15s will give you a better performance. if you know physics then you know what I'm talking about. that's why the dragsters are using small wheels and big tires. I would go for 18s they look much better and when the track time comes in I will be there on 15s . I'm still thinking what 18s should I get. right now my eyes are on all black wheels with no polished lip.

So i had a DIY weekend so far.
After distroying 2 of my Konigs, I had to put the stocks back on. Since they are sliver, i busted out the sand paper and the rattle cans just to make my stocks more enjoyable to look at. I even sanded and painted the inside of the wheels too. Now they are sexy in bronze, and i think i like these better than the konigs.. lol

That looks really good! One of my friends did that to his Acura wheels. It turned out really good, I couldn't even tell that he did it himself. He painted one side bronze and one side black to see which color he liked best.

That gives me an idea: I could paint my S-(not so)lites for an extra set of wheels. I have black Pro Race 1's but a painted extra set of wheels would be cool. I was thinking Chili red wheels to match my car would look good and it would be different. If you take your vin # down to my local auto paint supply store they can match the color of my car and put the paint in an aerisol spray can. The only thing I would worry about is scratching the paint off when I have the tires mounted.

No need for that; just open the hood and look on the passenger side upper frame rail above the wheel well. There will be a decal with your paint name and the paint code should be the 3 digit number on the lower left of the decal.

And you're right the tire monkeys would be hell for the rattle can finish. I've painted many wheels black on the back side, cuts down on the amount of cleaning required to keep them looking good.
