Poor rim. A bus had wedged into us yesterday on the way to work. Poor Mini. At least we have a witness - I hope she (bus driver) gets busted really bad. Now I need to wait for the Insurance to go through for a new wheel.

I tell ya what...you sure do know how to make a MINI look insane! Both the current and past versions are simply stunning. So jealous!

thanks guys.

Here's more info. with the Sumitomo HTR+ 215/45/ZR17 tires it was
only $780 shipped. the paint quality is OE, not those cheap
ADR/FLIK type spray paint that cracks and chips easily. They were
called TK5's back a few years ago and I had the 16's which were
great before i had the SSR Comps. I ran HTR+s as winter tires
on my WRX long time ago and they were great for the price.

The ones I got on now are 17's. 40mm offset and 7.5" width.
imho, perfect for those that are looking for a OE look but with
aggressive offsets and also super easy on the pockets.
Car is dropped on H-sports.

Nice! And can't beat the price, either. Yeah, they have styling that's really similar to some of the factory BMW 3 Series five-spokes, and the finish has that OEM look. Unfortunately, they also have that OEM weight , but they're not horrendous, and at that price not too bad.

Not to mention, they also look - aaaaaah, easy to clean! Ever since I got the R99s, I dread washing my car. I need some simpler wheels with fewer spokes.

good eyes! yes, i originally got the idea looking at the E46 3-series 5 spokes. like this one: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...2004_Black.jpg

they are very easy to clean. the finish is very smooth. quality wise,
they are better than ASA's. I have the AR1's on my Legacy and they
look nice but the paint is not as smooth as these SportEditions.

as far as the weight..yah, at 22lbs they are not light, but
using a/s tires and being lighter than R90's that i had
originally, they are still a nice package.

Yeah, those are them! Hmmm, I really want new wheels (and would LOVE a 7.5" width), but I don't wanna spend the money (the Gram Lights I like are $384 each, and they don't come in silver - and they're a 7" width). Something like these could work, and the weight would still be about a pound less apiece than the R99s.

unless you do over 5lbs difference you won't really be able to
tell the difference. plus, i don't know if you're looking for
high perf. tires or not, but tires vary in weight so need to look
at the gross weight too.

The tires I've got right now are Dunlop Sport Maxxes 205/45-17. I'm happy with them, so I'd probably stick with them (my fronts are almost worn to replacement level, so I need another pair anyway, and I've got a nail in one of my rears ). With those wheels, I'd basically be where I am now, weight-wise. I really noticed the weight difference when I switched from the 16" Panasports to the 17" OEM wheels, but I'm used to it now. They'd look a whole lot cooler, though...

I really like that they are silver. It seems that all of the aftermarket wheels are going to black or grey finishes or those funky "diamond black" or too-bright silver. I'm ok with black or dark grey wheels, but not on a LY/W car. Silver looks best on my car right now. If I were to paint the roof and mirrors Dark Silver...

i hear those are good tires..suppose to be pretty quiet too, right?
and the nails... ive had plenty of experience with that...

i just got tired of the loud howling of performance tires when they were
about 25% worn...then you have to hear it for the rest of the tire's life. :impatient
so i went with the Sumitomo A/S this time since ive had previous experience
with them and most people dont complain of road noise even after 20k+
miles. They are non-directional and pretty much available anywhere
locally. even Sear's has them. they have nice grip.

i agree with you on the color... there are just too many pimped out wheels
these days with all sorts of colors and im not real sure if such wheels
belong on a MINI... this is just my opinion, but they make the car look
cheap.
