I'm not familiar with the term, but the tire shops called them "reverse rims."

Minian
Prove me wrong with some pics....show me a flat face wheel that is 17x7 with 3 inches of lip without having an offset near 12 and I'll retract my statement. My guess is that "reverse" rims just means they have a convex face which isn't real lip. I doubt you were running 17x7 et12

But simple math states that with 3 inches of lip and a non-convex wheel face, the mounting face of a 17x7 would be about .5" out from the midpoint of the wheel at 3.5" (7" - 3" of lip = 4") (4" - 3.5" midpoint= .5" offset) (.5" is about 12mm.....so an et12)

And probably not a representative photo of the exact wheel that would fit on our cars. First, it is a 5-lug pattern so I know that wheel is not for a Mini. This FLik FTD wheel is similar and probably the best example of how close you can get with that style:

and what 2.5" on a flat face wheel looks like on our car.

true, it isnt a 4 lug but you can definitely see that the offset is similar to a MINI's...
we're not discussing the lug pattern, it's the flat-face+lip+offset factors

It is possible, but it is also possible that it wouldn't fit MCS brakes. I just finished a very long wheel search and came to the conclusion that sample photos don't mean squat, even if they look like they might work.

What the he!! is going on? RallyStance says it can't be done (flat face, 2.5" lip), you post a non-flat face wheel, I argue that a Mini fitment may not have the lip you show and post a photo of a similar wheel.

Like you said, whatever. I guess I will sit back and wait for the photos of a flat-faced wheel with a 2.5" lip that properly fits a Mini.

LOL hahahaah that photo i posted is the wheel that Minian claims is the wheel that is flat faced/et12. i was only adding fuel to the fire cuz it clearly IS NOT flatfaced and it clearly is NOT et12 with +2.5" of lip.

not that im trying to rub you the wrong way, but i think you misinterpreted and misread into my post

Hmm, I don't recall mentioning anything about a flat faced wheel.
I agree w/needing more than 17"x7" for a 3" lip "flat face", but what I don't agree w/is that a convex wheel with a 3" lip would look goofy. IF that's what was meant.

Please excuse the iPhone pics:
Show me your WHEELS!-img_0040.jpg Current Wheels

Show me your WHEELS!-img_0036.jpgWheels Wanted (BTW -these are closer to a 4" lip "appearance") Please PM me if you know where I can get a set.
color or scratches ok. (Volution VR-5)

I like the look and that's all that matters.

I didn't say that....what I said would look goofy is a 17x7 flat face wheel with 3" of lip because it would require such a low offset.

I started my post with "unless the wheel is convex". As I had assumed...it's just a convex wheel and not the deep 3" lip that Wake|MCS was thinking about.

All that said....I agree, those do look good

Finally got a chance to wash and wax after an interminable water ban. 17" Kazera KZ-B (silver) with RE050A's.

Is there any downside to running without center caps? I live in NC, so there's not nearly as much road salt, but is everything in there sealed up?

Thanks for the comments, too.

So the snow is finally gone and my new wheels/tires are on!! I actually had them installed on May 3rd, my Mini's birthday. Seems quite appropriate!

They are Drag DR-20, 16 X 7 with Hankook RS-2 215/45.

Hopefully later this spring/summer, I will get some new springs.

downsides? no. your hub will rust anyway even with
center caps on top. just paint it with some engine enamel and
it will look nice.
